im getting a new engine for my cav, the other one died at 105k ish.
question is, the motor im getting has 40,444 miles on it. i dont know what kind of oil has been run in it, but i prefer synthetic. is it to late to start it on synthetics? i have always run pennzoil platinum full synthetic OR mobil 1 fully synthetic 5W30 in my cars (5W20 in the sonata) but i have had them with less miles, 30K and brand new.
also, while on topic, what should i change accessory wise on the new motor.
i have oil (obviously)
new plugs
AC delco platinums? or NGK iridiums. looking for best gas mileage/ ease on motor.
new wires, and coil packs
new starter (just got one, so ill use that, not even two weeks old)
new cooling lines, just replaced
new water pump?
anything else?
thanks.
oh its a 2k chevrolet cavalier with the 2200
yes you can run that oil now just dont change back to and forth. Stick to synthetic. Also i would have just changed water pump nothing and plugs
all of the other things i have to add, are basically brand new. would you suggest the iridium plugs or the platinum ac delco they are very close to the same price down here.
AC Delco are best to run, best to use what came with the car when it left the factory
- 2004 Cavalier - 124k, owned since new
this is true. ill stick with them in that case. until i get me some boost.
