Does anyone know if these motors have the same bolt pattern as the 3400 blocks?

COMING SOON! VERY NICE!

The F40 never came with the LX9, it was only an option on the LZ9 (3900VVT) and some Saabs.

Regardless it will bolt up to a 3400.

So it should... but they have VVT which hasn't been figured out for swap purpose and also a drive-by-wire TB

I'm not real sure on that. But I did see where a guy twin turbo'd one and swapped it into a Fiero.

They'd know on 60degreev6.com. If they say it does, then it does.

They definitely have the same bolt pattern. They will bolt up to the same tranny as the 3100/3400. However, the swap has the above listed obstacles for wiring, though. The factory computer for that engine is the only thing that will run it, so you would have to swap the drive-by-wire system over, and probably most of the car's electronics (BCM/Cluster, etc).

There is a way to lock the VVT though, so if you do that and adapt a standard TB on, you can put an external crank trigger and use other electronics. The UIM has a baffle that switches for higer RPM, that could be hooked to an RPM activated switch. If you want good info on the engine, search the forums on 60degreeV6.com. There are a couple of guys tear them down just to learn about them.

By the way, why are you asking? Are you bored with the 3400 already?

Well, I believe there was some talk about the baffle on the UIM. The 3.0L Taurus SHO had the same thing, but it was run by vacuum. I can recall someone talking about the possibility of modifying it to operate the same as the SHO engine does.

i'm lost sorry guys can you help me with the abreavtions?? Well i was going to do a 3400 swap with 5spd butt i heard that you can putt a 00-02 getrag 5spd behind a 3800 can anybody help me and tell me if you can or not??? Thanks

VVT = variable valve timing -- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Variable_valve_timing
UIM = Upper intake manifold (the thing in Nate's sig)
TB = throttle body
LX9/LZ9 = engine codes

The 00-02 2.2 Getrag will fit behind the 3400

Sorry.

Yes, the Getrag will bolt up to the 3800. However, you have to use an F-body flywheel that is machined down to the same thickness as the J-body one.

Kardain, you missed the second digit in the engine he asked about.

3800 also isn't nearly as bolt is as a 3400. If it was, I would be looking at the 3800 due the readily available aftermarket for those motors as opposed to the 3400.

There will always be someone faster than you, but thousands slower and dumber than you.

Haha No no im not bored with the 3400...yet...... Just looking around alot on 60degreev6 and also my dad has the 3900 in his car so just doing some thinking. I feel really confident in doing these swaps now. Today I got my buddies H22 to work in his accord (motor swap) I know its not a J but I still feel confident that I could do a more complex motor swap now. This has been a really good learning experience.

Those engines are still really expensive cause there so new as well. I think 60degreev6 had them for $2000.

O and the 00-02 getrag 5spd does it have to be from a 2.2 i think that would be an ecotech motor or would it have to be from the 2.4 LD9 motor???

yep this is probably why you have to use the entire wiring to run it.
I saw it coming when I was doing research on my swap, I guess the time has come.

From now on, stop trying to sound dumb and just try a little harder.

If you'd have clicked on members, and searched by the membername of Raven he's the first one that comes up.

It has to be the 2.2L (not an Eco or LD9), the Eco and LD9 have different bellhousing patterns.
