what is the difference between the LS Sport (2.2L eco) and the 2002 Z24 (2.4L LD9) Apart from the engine and lack of red speckled interior?

Are they otherwise identicle? suspension? Trim? interior? options available? wheels?

Someone told me they are the same car, just the name and then engine. (and red speckles on Z24)

Anyone know performance specs on either of these stock? at least HP/Torque numbers...

well the rims are different. the LS Sport have the chrome dual 5 spoke rims, the z24 have the same as the 00-01 z24. though I think some z24's got the LS Sport rims also.

# 1996–2002 - 2.4 L (146 in³) LD9 I4, 150 hp (116 kW) and 155 ft·lbf (210 N·m)

# 2002–2005 - 2.2 L (134 in³) Ecotec I4, 140 hp (104 kW) and 150 ft·lbf (203 N·m)

The ecotec is one of, if not is the lightest fully dressengines GM has ever made, at only 350 lbs! That puts the ecotec cars at a weight advantage, not to mention all the aftermarket support for the ecptec.

Same car. When the 2.2L Ecotec replaced the 2.4L Twin Cam part way through the 2002 model year, GM changed the name (in the US only) from Z24 to LS Sport. In Canada, it was still known as the Z24 through the 2005 model year.

According to my VIN and the insurance man my 02 is actualy a LS Sport Z24. So by that resoning the Z24 is better. Oh and LD9 FTMFW.

i definitely agree with the last post about the Z24 being better than the ls sport. my insurance company considers my car as an 02' ls sport Z24.
