Check eBay. I've scored a few harnesses off there. You just have to be patient, because a lot of them are big bucks, but if you keep watching, you can usually score one for around $25. I think the most I've paid is $30 for a good harness.

Also call salvage yards. They don't usually list them, but if you call them, they might have one for you. The only problem is that a lot of yards cut the harness to get the motor out, because that's all their interested in, but make enough phone calls and you're bound to score one. Usually the P&P yards are a good place if you have any near you. Just call and see if they have any 96-98 Cavaliers or Sunfires. If so, get out in the yard and start looking.

$160 for that harness is insane. Out of curiosity, what do you need a harness for? Is yours damaged?

I would personally just try to repair it, depending on how bad the wires are damaged. It's not hard to do. Just get yourself some shrink tube and just twist and solder together the wires that need to be repaired. You can get replacement plugs lots of places, even on eBay I've found a few sellers that sell pigtails, so you just splice the wires in where they go.

you do realize harnesses are between 500-1000 for the dealership.

True. I fixed the engine harness on my GTP after the engine caught on fire. Just takes a little time, but saves a lot of money.
