i have a 95 cav with a bad engine but good body and a 02 cav with a good motor bad body. I m just wondering so may bee i can save a few bucks , if so what needs to be swapped. thanks for any help u give.
There is quite a bit difference in that many years. I do know that the engine computers and wiring harnesses are totally different. That 02 has a plastic intake and doesnt have an egr valve, your 95 does. I also believe that the cylinder head is different all together because there is no place to bolt your thermostat housing on the 95. the coil pack goes there on the 02.
Possibly no knock sensor location on the 02 block. 95 computer needs one.
Those are just a few that come to mind. I dont think I would try it unless you are willing to swap all of the 02 parts over, from wiring to , cluster, BCM, fuel tank sender, engine computer, and trans if its an auto in the 02.

i had a motor and tranny 80,000 k 2.2ohv but i crushed it last week sorry. all i wanted was 200.00 it was in the classifieds. depending on where you live you should be able to get one from a junkyard for about 150-200 but most likely its gonna have high miles. so honestly you might as well just re build or go eco.
pics but no video i got 150 for it at a scrap yard here in town
so thats out the window . what year moters can fit in there,is it the 95-97 or is it just 95? Thanks so for for the help.Im glad i dident try that one.
if you wanna keep with a fuel saver with the 2200, you could essentially swap everything over, is one manual the other auto? or are they both one kind or the other? if they're both auto, as an example, you should be able to swap the engine/wire harnes, cluster over. if you were intending on doing the full engine swap. I'm not really sure if that's what you wanted to do, but that's how I had read it.
He would have to swap over entirely every wiring harness in the car along with the cluster, bcm, air bag system, antilock brake system and so on. And unless you know somethng that i dont that wouldnt involve stripping the car. You see the 2002 has a class 2 serial data connection that communicated with every computer in the car from the antilock brake module to the air bag system. Even the airbag systems are entirely different in the 95. So where do you draw the line. sure It could be done, but at what cost and amount of time.
Any way, just swap the old one out for the correct year. I have a 95 at work right now thats getting a new heart. The biggest issue that i had was the engine was out of a corsica and it took a different passing gear cable on the throttle body, so I have to swap the old TB over. Im not sure what year it is out of , Ill have to look at the tag tomorrow. It was pretty pricey at 800 bills but has a 2 year warranty and it was delivered to my door. Im sure that you can find a better deal than that.

and I'm pretty sure that was the info he was looking for. and that's what I was wanting to be able to read. I wasn't 100% on the airbag thing, but now I know.
thanks for the help guys.im gonna look at local junk yards for a motor.
it can be done without as much trouble as they're saying. I've swapped a 2002 2200 in a 98 cav and a 2002 2200 in a 96 z24 which originally had a 2.4. i swapped both in, and just used 98 2200 engine harness, ecm, and injectors/fuel rail. also, have swapped a 98 2200 in a 95 Z24 to replace blown 2.4. The 2002's don't have EGR valve, so you can swap a pre-99 2200 head/intake manifold on it, or don't worry about it and get a CEL. On the 96 Z, we actually used everything and eliminated the EGR, but I won't go into that. If you could find a 98 2200, that would be you're best best and done with no hassle.
