Okay i bought a smaller lighter crank saft pulley off a guy he said hes including the new belt i will need. Well it was way to small so i went to the store bought the belt that was one size smaller than are stock belts. And it was 3" smaller well i tried to put it on need only about another half inch don't know what to do. I went to advanced orileys and autozone they all had the same things any ideas
O this is a 2.2 with ac

Did you try puting the stock belt on? It should work, unless your new crank pulley is a lot smaller than your stock.
I agree the tensioner should take up most of the slack. also since there is no info in your profile, is this a 2200, or the 2.2 Ecotec?
Its a 2200 and yes i tried the stock and it goes on with out even doing the tensiner its way to loose. And im saying with the half inch i bought the belt that was three inches smaller and it was about a half inch to small could not strech it at all. I need a belt that is about 2 to 2 1/2 smaller than the stock belt thanks for your help
Whats the brand name and part# of the stock belt?
i'm not sure about the 2200 but are you sure you have the tensioner as far open as it will go? i know on the 2.4's it can be tough to get a wrench in there and open the tensioner up because the wrench hits the upper mount. try to find a way to open the tensioner then use some thing to hold it part way open so you can reset your wrench and get it all the way open
Go out and get a crowfoot wrench... they make a world of difference..... I keep one in my trunk with a spare belt in my glovebox for my 2.4..... it makes changing the belt like a 2 min job.
Some places call them belt removal tools... or tenshioner tools.
I just might be the guy that sold you the pulley. The belt definitely fit on my 97 2.2 w/o an issue. I'm not sure how much smaller it is than the stock belt, but with a gear wrench I was able to get the tensioner back far enough to get the belt on there fairly easily.
My Cardomain Page
measure and post up how long the belt you are using is (in centimeters not inches). and if you say you need another 1/2 inch on top of that belt, then add that on too. belts are sold by length, width, etc so if you can figure out how long and wide you need it, you can tell someone at autozone or where ever and they should be able to find what you need.
i went through the same trouble when i went to a smaller crank pulley and deleted my a/c (w/o an idler pulley) on my 2.4 drop top. the belt was much smaller than stock and went from crank to alternator and that was it. but i did just like i described above and went around to autozone, advanced, and napa and found it eventually.
good luck
NO SIG FOR YOU!

If i'm not mistaken on the 2.2/2200 OHV engines, the addition of a smaller crankshaft pulley requires a belt that is 1 inch shorter than stock.
If you really find yourself in a bind and need that extra half inch or whatever do what I've done. Look for that size you're looking for in a 6 rib belt (your stock belt has 5 ribs). Once you find it, cut one rib off of it, and make it a 5 rib belt to run on your car.
Also, make sure that you're routing the belt the right way. I can't even count how many times I've tried to put a belt on and went around the wrong side of a pulley or skipped one altogether and scratched my head forever trying to figure out why the hell it wouldn't fit right.
