Size of tb throttle stop bit?
Friday, November 30, 2007 8:25 AM
OK... my car idles at 1100 rpm all the time... and I've fiqured out that there is nothing wrong with the car (I've checked and replaced everything)

It either has to be the throttle stop or the ecm.......

Does anyone know what the torx bit size is for the adjuster crew on the 2.4 tb? I know it's an odd size and might have to order it...

Also... I havn't found it yet and my throttle body is pretty accessible since I have an aftermarket intake and all of the plastic covers removed....

Can anyone tell me exactly where it is or maybee have a pic of it?

Thanx guys...

auto or 5-speed?

if 5-speed, then the 1100 RPM is normal, every 5-speed J I've driven the RPMs at idle are right around there.

if non, then I've no idea to be honest. . .

Mine idles at 1100 RPM. I think it's just the normal idle RPM.

Ya it's a 5-speed....

I don't remember it idling that high when I bought it though..... but maybee it did...... I'de still like to lower it to like 900rpm if possible though..

So you guys are saying that lowering it down a little (if doing it that way will even work) would be a bad idea or just uneeded?

I'm kinda wondering if I tried lowering it to where I wan't if the ecm will just try and compensate.

Maybee it can just be adjusted with HP tuners when ever I get around to needing it who knows.....

I just don't like it ideling that high.... if it's normal or not...... but thanx for letting me know there's nothing wrong... I'll prob just leave it alone for now.... and mess with it through tuning when the time comes (assuming you can do that). I don't wan't to mess anything up.

Thanx again people.

the only advice I can think of to give, is get used to it.

I dont think its going to make much of a difference to lower it 200 rpms. Do you really spend that much time with the car idleing? Unless you spent hours at idle everyday, i dont think you would notice much if any difference in gas consumption. Just helps make it a little harder to stall.

even if you did use the stop bit (assuming your car has one, not sure why it would) the iac valve would simply open more to compensate. you could have the butterfly completely closed, and the iac would simply open more to keep it at the idle programmed in the ecu.

Ya... thats what I'm thinking.... I'll just leave it alone.....

Yes the car does idle quite a bit in the winter... (warming the car up)...

It's just been one of those things that I've wanted to change for awhile.....

If I can't to it correctly... I just wont do it at all...

Thanks.

5spd.

Mine idles at like 1200 until it warms up and i think the IAC resets or something, and then it idles at 800.
