keyless entry reset (sorta)
Friday, November 30, 2007 8:36 PM
i remember reading somewhere (probably the owners manual) that the keyless entry can be set to honk and flash the lights twice when you unlock the car. i called 2 GM dealers and they said they weren't sure how to do it.

does anyone know how to reset this in a 2005 cavalier?

first you need a wire to connect the terminals in the trunk. look for this plug on the driverside behind the carpet.
i believe you hold down the lock and unlock buttons within the car or outside but just hold them for like 15-30 seconds

called the dealership again and ask them for programming a new remote procedure. or go to the parts department and ask the lead tech in the garage to get it for you

i'll look into this more but that should be it

If i remember right, shorting the connector won't work on the newer models.
On the newer ones you have to have the dealer do it with a TECH2
If i remember right

^ Yup.

95-99 has the connector in the trunk, 00-05 you need a Tech 2 diagnostic tool (there is no other way).

Pop a lock can do it as well.

The company Pop A Lock? Can't speak from experience, we don't have one here. But they have some sort of tool that does it.... what I was getting at... is there is no way to Do It Yourself without the proper diagnostic programming tools.

Thanks John
