Camshaft housing gaskets (2.3L)...
Thursday, November 22, 2007 7:07 PM
Hey all,

Just did a quick search but never got anything.

Has anyone done their Camshaft housing gaskets on the 2.3L with the engine in the car? Reason I'm asking, is there a way to do it without removing the timing chain cover?

Edit: Sorry, just saw that you said "cover". No, it's not possible.

That sucks!

I'm looking at getting a Sunfire that looks like it has the same problem (oil leaking from the valve cover/head area), is there any quick fix for this?

You could try tightening the bolts a bit... just don't overdo it, or you'll be removing the broken bolt(s) in addition to that timing chain cover

Worked for me on my 98 Cavy... didn't on my 00.
