'99 2.2L Fuel Pump/Starting Issue

Well we just had the car at the dealer for this issue and they could NOT find anything wrong after all their expertise and the best the could offer for assistance is the fuel pump is dying and is on the what out, eeeck!

Here's the issue which started near the summer start... Car has about 185,000kms on her.

Whenever its warmer outside (20C +) and the car has been sitting for more than 1/2 hour, when you try to start the car it turns over fine and everthing BUT when the motor just starts to "catch" and you release the key from the starting position, the motor will stumble a couple times and then stall itself. When you attempt to restart it, it will start easily without either mashing the gas pedal to the floor (like the car was flooded or something?) or assisting it with the gas pedal somewhat.

We just had the tps sensor replaced as it was showing a random fault every once in a while but never did illuminate the cel on the dash. Also, the fuel filter was replaced about a month ago.

Any ideas, or is this sounding more likely like the dealer said and the fuel pump is the culprit here?

Z i know exactly what you are talking about, my car does that all the time, as soon as i hit the switch just as the engine is about to catch it will stumble and die in my case though if the engine is cold the stumbling and dying will be followed by a pop or a mini backfire.

i forgot to add too though that while yours may be a constant thing, mine does it intermittently though it is still a pain either way.
