Something made me think to finally ask this tonight so here I go.
I have a 97 LD9 with an Izuzu 5-speed tranny, and I have been able to hear the throw out bearing rattle at idle without the clutch pressed in since I've owned my car. I havent ever had any problems with the clutch so I haven't worried about it that much.
Is it normal for it to make a little noise in the Izuzu's? It's been doing it forever with no problems, I've been wondering about it for awhiile.
its called clutch chatter which means you need to replace the throw out bearing. its only at idle and when you press the clutch it goes away.
^^^ yup.. thats what its doing.. A buddy of mine told me he's suprised it hasnt seaized yet, but it's been working that way forever..
I need a new tranny anyway.. hopefully I can get one pretty soon. If I can get one before winter.. I'm going to re-build it (if it needs it), over the winter, and get a lightweight flywheel, and at least a stage 2 type clutch, and install it in the spring. So if I'm lucky it will be replaced before it goes out.
