Well I went out today and had my exaust modified like I was talking about doing (Muffler Choices thread)
First of all, this is what I have for an exaust. (minus the new mod)
Pacesetter 4-1 header, Magnaflow high flow cat, Pacesetter cat back exaust with Monza muffler (no resonator)
Heres a pic of what the muffler looks like so you know what I'm talking about. It's basically a huge glass pack.
I went out and bought a 23 inch cherry bomb glass pack to use as a resonator for $20
And I had it welded in for $35
As for the videos... I think I had my digital camera too close to my exaust. There is actually a much bigger difference than you can hear in the videos. The exaust it actually half as loud than it was before. The exaust note is preety much dead on though. In the first vid.. the exaust is soo loud that the mic actually cuts out because the exaust is soo loud it can't process the sound.
MAKE SURE YOU TURN DOWN ANY SUBWOOFER YOU MIGHT HAVE CONNECTED TO YOUR COMPUTER BEFORE LOADING THE VIDS.
Before
After
It actually sounds pretty good now, for comparison, it's just a little louder than a stock exaust on an RX8.
Nice!! Where did you buy the resonator from? I need one badly, lmao...
You can pick up cherry bombs at pep boys i think.
I have the same exaust setup as you, except on a 2200. I love how it sounds. Only thing is, it gets a little raspy when you get up in the rpms. (but im going boost and 3" exhaust soon.
and i love the tip.
The tip came welded to the muffler... I bought the cherry bomb at fleet farm.
the exaust isn't raspy at all anymore... even at full throttle all the way up the the limiter.
I still get the gurgle sound a little sometimes when I let off the gas (depends what rpm I'm at), wich I was worried about loosing since I like the way that sounds, but even when it does it, it's not very loud wich is a good thing.
I'm planning on going boost too (supercharger), all though it will be awhile... and I'm planning on leaving the exaust the way it is when I do it.
It's all 2.25 OD btw.
