You have to get an Eco tranny.

You need a Getrag transmission with the Ecotec bellhousing. That is a different bellhousing than the 2.4L, the base 2.2L pushrod (like your motor, which is why it won't bolt up to your transmission). You'll also need to cut out the rear transmission mount and weld in the new GM one... as well as modify the front trans mount (the mounts are different between the Isuzu you have and the Getrag).

Plus, to run the Ecotec.. you'll need the newer computer... which only works with the Body Control Module... and that means re-wiring the entire car.... swapping airbag module... dash to fit the larger cluster.. brake module for the ABS.. re-bend the brake lines..

Have fun!

If your car was a year newer, it would be a LOT easier.

A 2.4 for your year would be a much easier swap, and makes comparable power stock to the Ecotec, and it has decent albeit not as good aftermarket support as the Eco.
