while i have my car apart, ideas are coming, has anyone done a kit for a forward opening hood, my lesabre T-type opens like that and it always gets looks, if there are no kits i guess i will have to get creative with existing cars.
i know the datsun 280zx opened forward im sure plenty of other forgin cars did too. it will be interesting to try anyhow.
i have to take the drivers side fender off today, while its apart im gonna look for places for hinges to retract too.
yellow22 did it but for some reason wont tell anyone exactly what car theyre from
the buick lesabre one has alot of pontential, it can be easy to change how wide it is, if you can weld.
right now it is my first choice, ti pulls forward and will get the hood out over the bumper
heres a photo
That and a few older buicks as well. A bunch of people have done this to their cars on BCJbody, it looks pretty good.

this guy used lesabre parts to do his reatta. On page 3
looks like he mainly used the locking hardware towards the cowl, and maybe some forward parts.
i have a 89 t-type to use as an example to fab up the cav
so any way i have my buick as a guide, and i will be off to the junk yard
i know a few people who have done the lesabre hinges.....in fact most Js that i know of that have done this mod have used the lesabre hinges. its actually pretty easy to do with them, but i dont have a write up on how sorry
it may be awhile before i have any results to post, i have alot to get done before i even think about putting the hood back on. I just couldnt resist posting questions about it when i decided i want to do it.
hah i knew it could work,
nice job there.
what did you have to cut the s@^# out of the hinges right not the hood.
autoloc makes some universal hinges, and i think vertical doors carries them. hell, look on ebay, everything is on there. i think ive seen autolocs on there.
cool i looked into their products
thanks for the info
^^ Got any other pics of that Fire with the hood open?
