i was reading the swap info and it says 2.4 l dont some parts what parts do i not need and another question i can get a performance rebuild kit for my 2.4 for 1300 from import perfomance would you think it would be better to do that thanks
It is not based off what motor you already have, but what year. Pre 2000 cars need more things to do a Ecotec swap. 2000+ do not need as much. There is many how to's for 2000+ cars. About the rebuild kit, well it all depends on what you want. $1300 for the kit, but you still have to do the work, or pay someone to do it. What are you trying to get out of your car?
FU Tuning
$1300 + labor for kit or $1500+ plus labor for Ecotec. The 2.4L, in your case, sounds good. Do you really need that serious of an engine, though? For the same $1300 you shouldn't have any problems finding a junk yard replacement w/ low miles and spraying it with a 75 shot.
$600 Ecotec engine, $600 trans, $300 Flywheel, $350 Clutch, plus maybe radiator. I think he needs more than just an Ecotec engine to get rolling.
That's why I said he should get a decent 2.4 and spray it.
If you do the ecotec swap get a donor car.I did my whole swap for $1600.
For you
2.4L + Spray = 210hp @ $1000
i got an 05 eco with 16k miles with tranny, cpu, wiring harness, rack and pinion for $400. with money for radiater $100 and various sensors i had to replace $100 i could have had it done for about $600 it only cost more because i bought aftermarket motor mounts, intake and header. so take that and add some spray and you could be at 210hp for $1000
