so we put a new water pump in this weekend. car runs great. nice and cool. no cel. but i drove 12 miles to work and it it only made it 1 bar above the 1/4 mark on the temp gauge. didnt make it to the normal opperating temp.
is this ok?? i know when i had my b16 civic it had a bigger rad and it NEVER made it to the 1/2 mark... but this just started happening with the new h20 pump for my ecotec. its an 04.
only thing i can think of is since the other one was leaking a bit, it wasnt doing its job, it would slowly heat up when parked. and this one is just fresh and healthy?
im goign to the track on friday and slightly concerned about this.

So its not heating up, your thermostat is stuck open then

I would say either the thermostat is stuck partially open or that there may still be air in the system throwing the temp sensor off a slight bit.

Well smart one air in the system isnt going to throw off the sensor, it will cause the car to overheat, shows how much you know about cars

12 mile drive in what kind of weather? It might not be heating up all the way because of temp outside helping keep the motor cool.
