2200 only had one cam, and no the ecotec cams wouldn't work in that engine.

ok. quick history lesson. the 2.2 ln2 in the 3rd gen j's was run from 95-97. THEN it became the 2200 (almost the same engine, but not really interchangeable) in 98, and ran till 02. both were OHV engines, meaning single cam that was below the valves. lifters, pushrods, the whole 9. the DOHC engine was predominately the ld9 2.4, which ran from 96-02, with slight variations along the way. the ECO took over in 03, through the end of production in 05. now, between those three engines, you cannot swap cams. at all. ever. eco cams cannot go in a ln2 or ld9. or vice versa.

Ive heard that the pre 98 2.2 ohv motor has a slightly more aggressive cam than the 98+ 2200's do... are those cams swappable? is that worth doing at all? (just a thought that ill more than likely never have again but i thought it worth asking)

well, cam swaps in the ohv engines are really no small task. and for the amount of work it would take just to swap in another stock cam, i's day no, not worth it.

nope

even if it was possible, the amount of work involved wouldn't make the 2 hp difference worth it at all.

it won't work. As was stated, the old 2.2 is a pushrod engine which means the cam is in the block, and the only thing under the valvecover is pushrods, rockers, and the tops of your valves.
