OK this may be getting old to some of you ppl here BUT
I have a 96 Cav
and have lived with this for along time
DRLs dont work-could be a few reasons
if it is the module or something like that what side High Beam will not work
I remember reading somewhere that a persons Pass side didnt work
mine is the drivers side High beam that does not work
my car could be wiring-hit a deer on that corner, and had this issue happen sometime after, but if it pinched a wire...
I am going to try the Library Faq thing this weekend ,unless I get energetic sometime
and let me get this straight
1-remove dash pad
2-locate proper wire-the thinner dark blue wire next to the only purple wire
3-cut and tape ends
4-replace dash pad
5-get real mad when It doesnt work and I have to hunt which wire is bad for the drivers side high beam
why didnt someone tell me this 4 years ago when I 1st had this problem-
accually I worked across town on afternoons so I hardly ever drove with highs on so I really didnt care
BTW
awesome site
I have recomended a few other freinds and coworkers here
If the car was in an accident that's probably the cause. The relay on mine (97 so I'd assume 96 is the same) is in the front grille next to the driver side headlight. You should see it in the gap between the headlight and bumper.
Cutting the blue wire only got rid of the flashing light on the dash for me. But, that probably has something to do with the lack of the factory ECU. So if it doesnt work, just grab that relay and jump the wires going to 30 and 87a like it says in the .org library.
hello
just getting back to this
jumping the wires didnt work for me
I may try a different relay,or I will have to get into the wiring
I'm sorry... You WANT them to work????
Most people on here are disabling them and you are... *shudder*... enabling them....
Knowledge about everything and yet an expert of nothing!!
Jack of all trades.
I could care less if they work or not
I want my high beams working
if I have to get the DRLs to work so I can disable them later I will
Also check your harness running between the lights. There are some factory connections along that path, inside the loom, taped with what looks like loose book-binding tape.Moisture gets into there and can corrode the wires. You might have to solder in new pieces of wire to complete the circuit again.
well I still havent done anything regarding this
I put in a different relay-still the same
I have to replace the drivers front fender at some point in time
when its off I will get into the wiring
is there anyone that would know-or someplace I can go that would know what voltages are in the harnesses
would make it easier if I could just grab my DVOM and see which wire I need to look at going from the headlight harness
I really dont like doing wiring.....
...so you dont have to ground the wire after cutting it? someone told me no matter what year you had to ground one of the sides of the wire... this same person also told me that if i didnt know what was what on the relay to leave it alone... anyone have pics or a diagram on how to jump the relay?
