tranny and CV shaft Q's.... Lil input Pls

Hey I just had a few questions, I'm gonna try to replace the CV shaft on passenger side of a 2001 cavi 2.2 but i need to know whether the tranny is a 3 or 4 speed and if i need aftermarket carrier bearring support or not.

I'm guessin its a 3 speed everything is stock and i don't ever remember the older cavis being a 4 speed but i could be wrong, any help would be great. I dont have the car here with me right now to find out so ya know...

and as far as the carrier bearrings go I'd also guess no on that, because its a stock shaft and I'd be replacing it with a OEM shaft. I could also be wrong with that too.... and once again cant go look right now.

So if anyone can help me out as to what to buy and maybe what to look for on the car to know. I'd appreciate it

Thanks
-Aaron

3 and 4 speed auto axles are the same. You can get the 2 piece ones if you want, or the solid ones, your call.

If your going to replace one, then just do both, cause not too long after you replace the pass. side then the drivers side will go out. So you might as well just do both at the same time. Thats what I did and everything has been fine.

alright cool, the prices were the same either way, so imma go with the 3 speed with no bearing support and it should work correct?

and as far as replacing both sides, we will see. the owner of the car got into a lil fender bender and it warped the shaft a lil which caused the wheel bearing to fail. so after replacing the bearings we realized that the axel needed to be replaced.

hope all goes well, any install tricks or tips ????

Thanks

imma take a look at her car tonight to see exactly which i need to get.

only thing im not sure of is the carrier bearings, but i'll figure it out.

Yea, definitaly pull really, really hard. And when you put the new one in, make sure you push it in hard enough so the little retaining ring clip is in the right place inside the trans.
