motor mount piece of s#it!
Sunday, January 14, 2007 2:33 PM
Hi guys,

For my 98 white Cav, I had a upper motor mount insert from rksport and it fit all in just great.

Now, for my current cayenne red cav... fawking bulls#it!

I've spent almost an hour and half just trying to install the urethane upper motor mount insert and dumb a$$ wouldn't go in as well and i cant bolt it down. Has anyone else had this problem?! Im so aggravated because I've done this before and i've never had this aggravating problem...and is there a solution for it?

Before anyone says about ditching the insert and get the new Turbo Tech Racing replacement unit for the motor mount, I prefer use the money for some other mods i have planned for...

Thanks for listening, I'm just venting and ready to rip the damn thing in half...

Or dish soap.

Did you jack the engine up a little bit to get it bolted? And dishsoap helps alot.

Jacking up the motor? how is that gonna help get it bolted? The insert is too big, almost like its built wrong. If i jacked up the motor... would the insert go in more smoothly without trying to push it inside too much? The piece that is supposed to sit on top of the motor mount sorta with two bolt holes that holds the motor in place... it sits too high and I cant bolt down the final piece of the mount to hold it in place before I re-attach the cooliant pieces back in place cuz of the top piece sitting too high. I hope that makes sense LOL.

Well, provided your stock mount isn't destroyed you shouldn't really have any problems.

All I did on mine (which was a new stock mount installed) was hock a few luggies on it, and it slide right in place.

However, the TTR would be a better buy.

i did 2 in the same day and they slid right in. i did bothe upper and lower in about 20 mins on each car. you might have a torn up upper mount that isnt allowing it to slid in.

I did the lower and upper poly mounts. The lower mount was easy as pie, The upper insert was a bit of a pain to slide into place, A few good taps with the rubber hammer fit like a charm. Money well spent in my opinion.

Did you get the whole moune or inserts? If you got the whole mount you probably need to bore out the holes.

The insert slid right in...BUT... the top part of the mount (that looks like it has teeths and is supposed to sit on top of the insert) its not sitting flush so I can bolt down the metal top part (last piece to bolt in before reinstalling the cooliant resvorior). The top part is sticking way too high and its preventing me from being able to bolt it down. I've used Vaseline, dial dish soap, even OIL to get the damn thing in. I've had the rksport one and it slipped right in NO problems. This one... I dont think I've ever cussed at it more than ever before and I've thrown the damn thing around a frew time. I was too pissed at it. LOL.

Sounds like it needs to be jammed down a little further. I ran into that problem with a guy whose car had been in a front-end collision - the upper mount was actually bent a bit, just enough to make the install a pain. After a lot of brute force with a hammer and block of wood, it finally lined up and went in.

LOL @ Brian... Maybe it is. Im gonna take it out and tear it apart and see why the hell it wont cooperate with me. If I still can't make it work after that, then ill have to make some hard decisions about getting TTR motor mount
