A couple of years back the previous owner of my 97 sunfire had the ignition lock cylinder replaced. It has the "passlock"(or whatever you call it), and recently the key got jamed in and i removed the lock cylinder. I ended up swapping internal parts from the 96 lock cylinder that did not have the passlock, but reused the outer case that had the chip and three wire connector on it. The car started fine and has ever since, but the THEFT light refused to turn off. What can i do to correct this problem?
thanks,

Yeah that's smart. Take the easy way out instead of fixing the problem.
I would say to get an ignition cylinder made specifically for the year of your car and see if it changes anything.
