ok guys you are the best on the J-Body cars i want to know for my 2004 2.2 ecotec Cavie should i turbo it with the Hann turbo kit or should i Supercharge it what do u think would be the best to do
well what are your goals for the motor or car?
my goals are to have an outstanding show car that i can take to events like NOPI and others like that but i also want a car that will performe so i can do a little racing lol
well not to burst your bubble but alot of people set expectations of their car high and feel they are capable of it (im not saying you arent) but then when it comes down to the cost of everything, the plans change. to do both your going to spend alot of money. a show car alone cost alot of money because everything from the exterior, to the interior to the engine have to be done and has to be done to something that no one has seen before to make your car stand out. its alot of time, work and money.
if you can do it thats awesome but just realize that some goals are unreachable
all i want to know is wich will provide me with the best power and the loweist problems wit thats all money is not a problem for me i am pretty well off i am just wondering witch is better
its really up to you, you can do alot w/ both setups and you can see great gains out of both. your best bet would be to ask in the boost forum.

spray nitrous. its easier and cheaper.
turbos and superchargers are a waste on show cars. you can spend the money on body mods or fancy paint instead, unless you have a high budget. if thats the case, put on turbo and a supercharger, thats the cool thing to do.
Can this guy be serious? He wants to have a turbo or supercharger mainly for show purposes? Who the hell buys go fast parts for show purposes?

People that win shows. Most know I'm anti show only cars, but they do have to have all bases covered to win.
I had the HAHN Stage 2 on my car and loved it, then I moved back to cali and wanted to be smog legal so I bought the GMPP SC, and I wish on everything I have I could go back to the turbo.
My Opinion only...
If you want reliability and not serious HP , Supercharger. If you want serious HP with less reliabilty , Turbo.
And as far as...

I've managed to pick up a few "Best of" trophies and run a low 13sec. pass or two.

"In the entire history of man the only stupid questions are the ones that don't get asked"
I don't get the reliabilty debate. Once I got the turbo on and tuned I never had to touch it again until I took it off.
Is it possible to do a complete swap with either the Cobalt SS or even the newer Solstice Gxp (or whatever they call that thing) I know the Solstice engine puts out 260hp and uses a low lag twin scroll turbo, which even at base rating would really get you moving!
Why not do both if you have the cash and want to do something unique and show-worthy.
I'd love to throw on a supercharger to give the car some more bottom-end grunt and then turbo it to make it pull even harder on the top-end. I'm just not too sure how long the engine would last if you were to drive it hard all of the time.

Isnt that the purpose of a show car? To give the illusion that it's fast?

those guys that are serious about winning shows. go to a big show and you have to have the entire care modified to get wins. look thru the magazines they generally arnt showing guys with stock motors. they are showing people that have modified the entire car not just the pretty parts, they want the entire package.
if its just for shows i say go with the supercharger.

if its show I'd go supercharger, less maintanence, bolt on and go. If you want pure performance, turbocharger with HP tuners is the only option.
