Ok
I picked up a 95 sunfire
2.2 auto
reading this site and using the search
it is OBD1 with a OBD2 plug correct?
now how do I check the codes
with OBD1 you jump 2 prongs
with OBD2 you use a scanner
the CEL came on 3 times this week-got the car on saturday
its going in tomorrow(thurs) for an E-test(ontario canada)
I want to see how bad it fails
I would like to know what code it is throwing
Yes, OBD1 with an OBD2 plug.

I recall someone saying you had to use a OBD1.5 scanner... which is a OBD2-plug equipped OBD1 reader? I'm a little fuzzy on that one... I only briefly owned a 95 Sunfire and I never got the chance to work on it before it was crushed
Lenko, you are right sir. OBDII wont do it and OBDI doesn't either. I've also found that the alternator plug is an only year as well according to the autozone guys in my area (I'm working on that one to confirm)
Stan, with that particular computer, you can rechip and do lots of fun things.
well it failed the Etest
40 km/h curb idle
limit reading limit reading
HC ppm 66 179 fail 200 242 fail
CO % . 37 1.37 fail 1 .83 pass
NO ppm 0505 1816 fail
why the "H" would chevy do that(as if I need to ask)
is there any way to change it to an OBD1 plug?
rewire it to I guess 94 system ?
computer different ect
I looked at wiring diagrams and cant find anything in them about the diagnostic plugs--but I have chilton books and for that they suck
Hotbug
I have a 96 cavy 2.2 5speed for me-had it 7 years and still love it
I can either use this for parts or get it around for my GF-the fire needs brake lines for a safety
if I want to go fast I have a 1968 plymouth barracuda fastback to spend my money on
Maybe it needs an O2 sensor?
Andy - I thought the alternator on the 95's was the same as the 2nd gen cars?
Besides... a little soldering and you've got a different plug.

Well, on my trip to autozone when my Alt died in Tiffin (Tony was there and Jnickel), the guy told me that he would have to order the plug to be able to read the alt. I noticed that the 95 had it's own little slot in his kit. I need to research this more to be certain.
I could hook in an aircooled VW alt if I wanted to, all the plug does is control the regulator, and maybe the warning light.
