I've had it to the dealer twice before for the same issue and they still haven't done anything to quiet this noise. Has anyone else with an 04 Sunfire had a vibration issue? I'm not sure what it is, but it's very annoying
. Any suggestions here would be helpful, since the dealer apparently doesn't know what the problem is.
Here is what was found and "fixed" the last time:
Found 2 center mounting bolts for dash cross bar itching on center cowl. Lube J nuts, mounting bracket, and bolts tighten securley and road tested, noise gone. Retorqued mounting bolts and lube.
Here's a thought.
Tire rotation and a PROPER alignment. Solved my issues. Before the
proper alignment, (after 2 crappy alignment jobs) the glove box door would shake rattle and look like it was going to come unhinged at high speed. The car vibrated all throughout., but I noticed the glove box noise (and when we held it in place, the dash would rattle). Now, zero vibration from the dash. No glove box shake. No vibration throughout the car at high speed. I can't describe the difference. It's like night and day.

I would say to just go through and look at every nut and bolt if you have the time and patience. Check for anything that could be loose and hitting something else.
I will guarauntee that the dealer just drove it, thought they found the noise.. looked at it and put it back together without doing anything to fix it.

Have you personally taken the entire dash off yourself?
The first time I took my dash off, I found that about half of the blue bushings that are supposed to absorb the dash vibrations were installed incorrectly. When the dash had been put in at the factory, the alignment posts pushed the bushing down into the holes instead of going through the hole in the bushing. After I put it back together the right way, the vibrations went away.
well ive got my dash out right now. entire dash at that... so what should i do to help stop vibration?
sounds good ill check lowes for something like that...

Check Jo-Anne Fabrics. They have all kinds of foam there you can get in different sizes.
I've also seen headliner material in the isle with the upholstery fabric.
I didn't want to make a new thread but I don't want to thread jack.
How can I quiet the physical trunk? The spoilers is tight, but their is still a slight vibration noise.
Would eDead solve this if i layered the top of the trunk?
toobad we dont have a fabric store close by....
