is a 1999 z24 2.4 (non-ecotec i believe) 5 speed a good car to start with? are there any problems finding performance parts for this engine? id like to do a small turbo or supercharger.

Loads of stuff available for it...

Read up on some of the Library FAQ first.. it'll tell you a lot of the basics. There's stickies in just about every forum with the common stuff.

99 is the middle of the road for the third-gen Cavalier.... which went from 95 to 05. Just about everything will swap over if you want to get that involved.

There's lots of stuff available for the 2.4L... aka the LD9 engine. (FYI, the "Ecotec" is the 03-05 2.2L DOHC motor... not to be confused with the 2.4L Ecotec now available in the Cobalt SS and Pontiac Solstice, amongst other models)
