Emission leak

I have an 04 ecotech, i keep gettin 2 codes from the ecm showing evaporative emission control leak, one large and the other small, has anyone else had this problem or heard of it before?

Make sure your fuel cap is tight.....They will throw evap codes if the cap is loose in any way. Other thing is the seal for the fuel pump module to the tank could be bad.

I've checked the cap It's definitly tight. How often do the seals go bad for the fule pump, is this a common occurence?

Actually smart ass, I dont have a warranty, seeing as the car has 61,000 miles on it.

Check for a vaccum leak, thats said to throw the code. Also, if you've used some sort of intake cleaner, they say sometimes that'll throw a light off as well.

I'm betting fuel filler cap too. They do actualy go bad and need to be replaced theres a little spring loaded piece in them and when the spring gets weak it leaks and throws a code. Theres not much else it really could be.

Thanks for the advice, I wasnt aware there was a spring in the filler cap I'll check that out, I also plan on using a leak detector, essentially a black light and special flui to test the system for leaks.
