hey guys...just in the market for a DECENT tachometer for my dash..i dont need anything ungodly big or small and dont NEED anything that has like 24 differnt color lights....just a good size white face tach that goes up to at LEAST 8000 and lights up blue or indeglo at night....ive looked across ebay and found very few i actually liked..which surprised me...i was hoping some of you guys could post some pics? have one for sale? maybe a link? i dont want to spend $800.oo on one of these so keep that in mind
Since your car maxes at 6500 rpms... what's the point of a 8000 rpm tach?
How about a nice stock tach, and some white face gauges? More functional, and make you appear like less of a poser. Unless of course you drag race your car and NEED to see when it's at 6,500rpm. Otherwise... what's the point?
(You won't find a un-gaudy tach... there are no good looking ones anymore)

my HO cav redlines at 7500...not 6500..i know, its not in my profile, guess i shoulda stated that earlier though huh hehe sorry, but my stock tach is off,by quite a bit
Ok, you got me on that one
What year car? I'm surprised the tach is off... they're usually pretty good.
how did you get an HO to a 7500 redline?
The W41 redlines at 7200, and the HO is at 7000.
I'm guessing you made some upgrades and are on a standalone? either way, you would know which tach to use, I myself prefer Autometer, if you can afford.
hot bug i thought you would know me better than that
and john its a 95...its off even at idle...cus i know my engine idles around 1k ..but my tach says like 750...so you can imagine how off it is when it gets higher...when drag racing i usually end up bouncing off the limiter..which sucks
..and with the new engine going in i dont want that to happen ...
and hotbug as far as the 7500 i know its TECHICALLY 7450 ..but its the w41 chip ..look familiar?
you bastard, you changed your screen name. I was thinking it might be you LOL then yes 7500 works for you LOL
I still say use the Autometer, dammit, owned by Scott...revenge to come soon, in the form of a S/C appearance at Quadfest.
dammit, I forgot mine was 7200, not 7000 LOL
I dont get to watch the tach at that RPM, since the car is thrown all over the place at that high a shift. usually sideways, the whole car LOL
I'm going to Summit today, I'll look at tachs for ya scott.
one more thing (we need an edit), mine is just as bad, I idle at 1200rpm on my tach, and at 7000 on my tach I hit the limiter, so I'm off by about 200 rpm, like you are.
your s/c vs. my stroker ! its on now baby
thanks though man let me know if you see a good one
Stewart Warner makes a NICE shiftlight / digital tach combo. I have it on my car and it is SOOOOOOOO much more accurate under power than my factory tach. Even just revving the engine the stock one is off a few hundo RPM.
I used to race cars, now I race myself.

VDO, Autometer ultralite II, and a few others were there, pretty good selection, not too flashy, and some were in the 3" range. I thought I saw a 2 1/8 tach or whatever there as well, we had the kids, so I didnt have too long to look at them.
Scott, the S/C is just to start, I'm doing the Stroker (2.6L) in the winter next year, and bumping up the S/C to 18psi. hopefully the tranny can take the abuse (looking for a quaife and some real isuzu gears), but I dont think it will see much track use, I want it to be a fun car for me, not a race car.
same here i want to keep m car street legal ...but id LOVE to see that stroker s/c ed
just give me time, money comes only once in a while. Josh is most likely my guy for the Stroker, since he's the "first" to offer a real stroker.
Hope to see you at the fest.
ATM-1397, i had to search high and low for this puppy. They are in the street rod series. Mines under the artic white subseries. Redlines at 7K
