Following on from my earlier post, I think I can borrow a scanner to read the codes, but I'm not familiar with this car. Can someone tell me where to plug the scanner in?

On a 73 Corvette? No idea.
Since you didn't tell me what kind of car you're driving.... all third gen Cavalier and Sunfire cars have a service port under the steering column... just above the pedals.
Fill in your registry... it helps a lot!!
right, just get under the column and you'll see it just sticking it right in the middle. pretty easy to find
