Any One know where i could find some production numbers for a 99 Z24 Convertible ?
I have a red/graphite interior and was wondering how many were made that year.......
i have had a couple low production vehicles in my time... dont wanna get rid of a 3rd one ~
I gave it a good try with google but couldnt come up with anything solid. Sorry, best I can do is point you to the
FAQ for some pretty general info.
J-body.org FAQ wrote:1999
Chevrolet Cavalier 290,996
Pontiac Sunfire 121,825
Toyota Cavalier 6,000
I have seen at least 2 identical cavalier convertibles with the red/graphite interior though, so I dont they're that rare. It's your call, but I would keep it if I were you since its resale is probably not so hot now anyway.
2000 2200 Cavalier: 9/14/2000--10/23/2006
2007 G85 SS S/C: 10/23/2006--Present

Ooh, ooh! I DO know the answer to this production question!!
There were 13,117 convertibles in 1999... all from Lansing, Michigan (the Genasys plant, where all third gen convertibles were made)...
7,627 were Cavaliers, and 5,490 were Sunfires. All were Z24 models. There was nothing rare about the red/graphite interior tho, sorry. You either had that or the tan or the medium gray interior. The medium gray is the least common, but still i wouldn't call it "rare".
95 convertibles are MUCH more rare.. strictly by numbers produced, that is. There weere only 901 Cavaliers and 750 Sunfires in the 95 model year.. I don't think I've ever seen a 2.3L convertible... not even sure if they exist... they would be mostly if not all 2.2L's.
All Converts made in Michigan. ?
lets say you have a vin code that starts with a 4 not a 1...
kinda like this VIN Code
4G1JF32T3XB904846....
my car was titled originally on the hawiian islands
it has a sticker.. all though faded... Locked out...
call 1-xxx-xxx-xxxx island wide and i think it was built on the islands ~
thanks for the production numbers... one of 13 thou' plus is good news to me !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!......
All the third gen convertibles I've ever seen (including the two I own) have a VIN starting with a 4.
Lenko, how many of those '95 Cav's were Z-24 models?

Haven't got a clue. All I know is total numbers by model for most years (up to 2002), by assembly plant. Since the Genasys plant ONLY made convertibles I can figure it out
I only have actual model breakdowns for 03 and 04 models.. and I have to find that again. Seems every time I email GM I get a different person responding, who gives me different information.
If you want to help my cause...
email Dan Flores - daniel.flores@gm.com and ask for "production numbers" and see what he sends you... last time, he had "Pam Reese" send me info and it was cool, but I'd like to get a complete breakdown of every model and every year... I don't know how accurate their info was from 1981 though
PS. You have to cc: me on whatever they send you
there's a guy here in winnipeg with a 95 cavalier LS 'vert, its white with the white interior. he blew up the 2.3L that was in there, and threw in a 3100 that has yet to be properly running
1998 Chevrolet Cavalier
5-spd
if it had a 2.3 and he pulled it he ruined it.. .ive never seen a 2.3l vert... would be a cool car
7 months without a date and counting

Wondering would the 98 be apart of these production numbers? I have a 98 z24 Cavalier 2.4L Twin DOHC just wondering if these are the same or roughly the same amount for 98.
Wow, the .ORG still lives on
1995: 901 Cavalier + 750 Sunfire = 1,651 convertibles
1996: 7,277 Cavalier + 5,676 Sunfire = 12,953 convertibles
1997: 9,228 Cavalier + 7,935 Sunfire = 17,163 convertibles
1998: 7,093 Cavalier + 6,766 Sunfire = 13,859 convertibles
1999: 7,627 Cavalier + 5,490 Sunfire = 13,117 convertibles
2000: 4,761 Cavalier + 3,599 Sunfire = 8,360 convertibles
Total 67,103 third gen convertibles, all from Lansing 3 Michigan plant.
Nice to know I'm one of 4,761.
