I want to lose some weight. and my cars too heavy also. (sorry, couldn't resist)
I can't take the back seat out, because I have kids. But what is the next best way to dump those unwanted pounds? Or is there enough to take off to even make it worth my while?
And before anyone says it- yes, I know the obvious answer would be to dump my bodykit and the wing, but I like them, and they stay.

Choose lighter tires and rims.Run 1/4 tank or less of fuel when you feel the need for speed.There are lighter batteries than stock.Get rid of that heavy cast iron exhaust manifold.Install a header and pick up a few extra horse power.

I guess what I was looking at though was dash padding, fender insulation, things of that nature. Is there any of that I can do myself without having to buy new parts?

i would leave the sound insulation. our cars don't have much and you can already hear a LITTLE PEPPLE hit the bottom of your car. Besides if this is your daily driver it will get really annoying with out the sound insulation.

Take a weekend... and STRIP the car down... everything... seats, carpet, dash.. I mean EVERYTHING. (I'll find pics of my stripping job... uhhh... yeah... the car!!)
- There's thick foam pads on the firewall... cut those apart and pull them out.
- The underside of the carpet has insulation... goodbye...
- If you're feeling creative, get a big screwdriver and start yanking out the tar pads on the front footwells.
- Trunk carpet has lots of padding under it.
- Hood liner. Bye bye!

Oh! How could I forget!! Get out the sawzall and cut out the metal BEHIND the dash, where your knees would smash into in an accident (safety first!!!).. there's a good bunch of it (10-15 pounds) you can cut out without compromising the dash mounting points... well.. except for the OBD2 connector. Relocate that

Cool, that's exactly the stuff I was talking about. About how much weight did you save by removing all that padding? I'll be looking forward to seeing the pictures of your strip job (yeah, the car) to help me get an idea of where to start. Thanks for the input.
