Hey all,
Quick question. My GF's 2000 Sunfire GT Speedometer Needle flutters when the car is moving above 100km/h (60mph). This has been happening recently when the temperature has been warmer out (above freezing...spring is coming, lol). She says the needle flutters between 80km/h and 120km/h while she's maintaining her constant speed. She tried engaging the Cruise Control to see what would happen....and the cruise simply tries to keep up with the needle flutter (accelerating and decelerating).
I did a search to see if a thread about a similar problem would pop up and couldn't find anything (except 5 pages of 2k+ needle removal problems, lol).
Anywho..wondering if anyone might have any ideas on what could be happening. The car isn't throwing any kind of code (except for the ABS light, which has been a pain all winter).
Thanks in advance, I'll keep searching too.

Well, that car I know gets a VSS Signal from the PCM to tell it where to put the needle. Your ABS problems may be related. You might possibly have something wrong with your VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor)
You really need to get a scanner so that you can test each sensor by itself and isolate the problem.
First though, you should make sure that your wires on your VSS Sensor aren't broken, or have loose connections.

I have the same (kinda) problem I think its a flaky abs speed sensor, get them checked out. I agree it could be related.
