Hey guys, i have an 01 cav 2200 and for about 2 months i have had the prokit/agx setup on the car and untill recently, i have noticed that the drivers side front wheel has less fender to tire clearance than the other side.
The entire set up consists of:
agx struts, eibach prokit springs, stock strut mounts, eibach front and rear sway bars and a vibrant front strut tower brace.
The actual wheelwell to ground measurements for all 4 tires are: Drivers front at 25.25" Pass. front at 25.75" drivers rear and pass rear both at 26 3/8"
What could be causing this uneven measurement? Which front tire sounds like its out of whack? should the pass. tire be lower? or should the drivers be higher?
Thanks for any help.
its cuz of the wight distribution of the car, and the fact that you sit on the driver side of the car and there is constanly more weight there. i would say to switch the front springs, driver side --> pass. side and vice versa, it should eventually even out.
this is my sig
You're probalby on unlevel ground. It's not weight dirtibution or the rear tires would be off too. Anything less than 1/2" is normal, and can usually be chalked up to uneven ground. We get this questions
often
I was at my work in the shop on perfectly level poured cement floor when i measured it. So it was on level ground.
Anyone? I'm still stumped all the tires are matching, not worn unusually and are set at equal pressures. there is no unusual noises or clunks. the strutmounts are tight with no cracks in the rubber and the bearings still slide smooth.
I'm really concerned there may be something bad going on like a defective spring. I still have my stock springs to throw on if i have to.
You also might want to consider the weight distribution in your engine bay. The battery alone on the drivers side + steering column may make the small height difference up. I have a Tein s-tech/KYB AGX set up and my driver's side does the same thing. When I replaced my battery the other day, I noticed that the height started to even out a little more when the battery was out of the bay.

oh jeez not this question again.
everyone shut up and listen.
EVERY jbody ive seen, has the 1/2" passenger front higher than the driver side. why? some say its because of the driver weight, some say its because of tolerances. I happen to think its tolerances, because i had three different springs on that side (including the one originally worn on the driver side) and still had 1/2" difference. I, and most likely everyone else you see will have this problem.
GET USED IT, ITS AVERAGE ON THE JBODY.
dont believe me? do a search on this topic. i know this from experience on my personal cars and the cars of my friends.

ps - by tolerances, i also meant to include the weight distribution in the engine bay.

Hey man calm down. Honestly the guy asked a question, and if it seems asinine to you, then don't bother answering it. It probably take you more time to get all pissed off and type than to just say "Not again" to yourself and go on other business. And don't act like it's a "J-Body thing". Any car with more weight on one side, will be a little bit lower. Maybe if the guy bought one of the 11 pound Braille dry cell batteries, then it would sit even. Anyways, I'm not trying to be a prick. I'm just trying to say add advice, or don't bother if its laced with sarcasm/a-hole.
And Nick, the small gap does not matter. It will either settle with time as the springsget their natural sag per say, or you can redistribute the weight set-up in your bay. I'd stay with the first idea, cuz the second can just be a Pita.

ok, thanks Viper and Joe. Glad to find out its not a huge deal. But seriously, i know i didnt search but why shouldnt i have atleast the slightest concern about something like this after spending all the money i did on the suspension of my car? Sorry if this is a "j body thing" that i just didnt know about. all i know is that after spending the money and time to do the job i want to make sure that it wasnt something more serious like a possible deffective spring or something else that could have caused a WAY bigger problem then how the car naturally behaves.
I just asked a simple question out of concern for my car, and possibly for my own health. I have learned so much information i could have possibly never even dreamed about as far as my car goes from this website and it is a incredible resource. but when i actually have a question and i get flamed it makes me wish i never said anything.
lol im gonna rephrase my post cuz everyone seems to be freakin out.
i was not flaming you nor anyone in this post. i was just being VERY direct to everyone so this question becomes a universal answer, rather than all the bs, uninformed posts that ppl always give on the jbo, that happens SO many times when new posts come up. not that this was anyone on this post, but i just didn't want it to happen in this one, so others can learn from it.
recent dumbass post: claiming the 04 special edition cavalier racing stripes were dealer rice.
love you all

Haha much love as well man. But hey leave my racing stripes alone....they make my car much more aerodynamic = 11 sec quarter miles..
