Not a J, but not a bad idea

This suspension is not that far off then that of a cavy, but you can obviously see the spare tire. I was thinking of trying the same idea, with out the helper springs, i m ineed of a bit more load capacity in my car. I think this would work but im also interested in some opinions, What do you think of putting an extra set of koni's in the rear? Or is there a better way other then buying a truck?

If i'm not mistaken, that a solid axle. Our's twists.
Get some adjustable dampening shocks for more load capacity like koni's, kyb, tokico

stronger springs would add some load capacity. You're really limited by the frame and drivetrane though. The j platform just wasn't meant to haul anything.

Yeah the engine/tranny is only rated at 1000lbs IIRC. So subtract you and anyting you have in the car with you, you're probably down to a 750lb trailer, which isn't much at all.

Well im not towing a trailer per say, Just driving a group of heavy people to Penn. Now when they get into my car as it is now, my rear tires rub on the inside of the fender wells. and the passanger side of my car stays about 3 inches lower then the driver side.

Example, my friend Big Mike is 17 yrs old and 375#'s, his sister is a little older and about 80#'s heavier.

I dont know, but somehow i got volunteered to bring then to Large persons boot camp for the quite heavy. Thank got i only have to drive them one way.

OMG, rent a truck. You'll kill more than just your suspension... the transmission might go!!

Unless you plus all the junk in your car weighs 170# or less, you're over the limit. Use a larger vehicle or "rent a truck".
