Does anyone have experience with using RkSport coilovers on the the KYB AGX struts?
My question basically is, following the modification instructions that RK has put together for placing their coilovers on stock struts, will it work on aftermarket struts like the KYB AGX?
Yes I know this will void my KYB AGX warrant. But if you read the full warranty card you'd realize that I voided my warranty the first time I autox'd with them.
Thanks for any help in advance. This one of my final mods before next years autocross season.

should work just like putting them on stock struts
and as far as installing them on agx's go, i have a question on that. does anyone know if it will in fact blow the strut to lower more than 1.5 inches, i know it voids the warranty, but using nitrous voids your cars warranty, yet ive done that and the car is just fine

It's not the drop that voids the warrany. It's springs that exceed 350 lbs per inch. 1.5" drop springs are ususally under that, and more drop is usually above that; so that's why they say 1.5".
If you cut your stock springs down 2" you would not blow AGXs. You would hit the bump stops constantly. And that would eventually cause other things to wear out, like your strut mounts and ball joints.
Any coilover kit on an AGX would instantly void the warranty. If you drive it gently they would last for a while, much longer than stock, but would eventually wear out, there is no question. But why would you get coilovers if you're going to drive it gently? You're not, and you'll blow the AGXs within a few months (at most); stock might last days, even weeks, but not months.

if you cut your stock springs 2 inches, chances are you would blow agx;s....
reason, its not a shortened strut shaftand once you start hitting and ridding on the bump stops constantly the piston inside the strut will get some damage... keep in mind stock bump stops are way soft compared to aftermarket.
kyb voids drops past 1.5 even on springs.... i;ve seen quite a few goldline posts and in person about how their kybs are damamged and or leaking....
gold lines claim to be 1.75, but well known to sag past 2 inches within the year.
Chris...same routine... however one thing though... when grinding off the perches, careful not to overheat the strut body... boiling oil def isnt a good thing.
Hey so what kind of shocks to use with those coilovers? I'm thinking about getting them too...
in the other post i just answered you just said you are gettin pro kits..
either way... koni...
rksport has a 375 spring rate in the front and 325 spring rate in the back
higher than most, like ground control, but still low enough to ride decent ^^^^

I'll answer your questions, no...so far.
I currently have Sportlines on my KYB AGXs. The sportlines are 1.7 front & 2.3 rear drop. I know I made a big mistake in not getting Konis...I'll get them later on now but my AGXs are ONLY good when they are maxed out on my height. They aren't blown but you'd be surprised how I don't have any bounce and how tight it is but you feel alot of the bumps (which is a given).
Would I suggest people do it, no. I made a mistake but I will pay for it in the future when they do eventually go.
By the way, I've had these on my car since Late September 2004.

they are fine as long as you dont go lower than 1.5". I autox on them but i am thinking of going with a 300 to 325 front rate next year for less stedy state understeer. they work well so far. they are stiff but the ride is not all that bad on stock tires. but when i slap on the 215azenis with stiff side walls the ride sucks but it is real fun. silly amouts of grip for a street car.

i would go GC with 300lb front and rear rates if i had it to do all over.
see ya!
Novaracer and Art, thanks!
Thats what I thought seeing as the stock and AGX's seemed to be the same structure. And I usually grind in small sessions allowing the part to cool before continuing.
I'll let you all know how it turns out.

375 is to stiff it does not let the car transfer enough weight onto the front wheels for me. i think autoxfools 300's up front worked much better. if you order GC direct you can pick your rates. and you will end up with a much better set up. look at how stiff the front of my car is.
