ok im having problems with my driver side back tire. when ever i push the brake pedal it feels like its locking up. i mean just about medium not trying to lock it up. so everytime i press the brake pedal my car pulls to the driver side... does anyone know how to fix this? i think it happened when my father adjusted my brakes up.. any opinions would be great.
have someone readjust the brakes , he might have got 1 side set to tight
Brake cleaner. If he got any brake fluid on there they will stick very easily.
Try readjusting them like JDM said too.
how do i readjust them??? im so confused
Take off your wheels, find the biggest gear puller you can get...... put the center of the gear puller in the middle of the drum. There is a little circle sitting there. Wrap the arms around the drum and turn it until the rust ring around the center of the hub breaks free. Make sure you get some PB blaster on it too. Spray everything inside with brake parts cleaner. You will notice two brass arms both on the rear shoe. one of hem is hinged at the top, one is hinged in the center where th e actual shoe is hinged. The one hinged in the center extends out and rubs up against a small gear. The gear is on a pole that extendes from the bottom of one shoe to the other. The gear should have a few threads showing from behind it. Screw the gear back down (not tight, just down) and then let the arm back down. Do this on both sides. Your brakes are auto-adjusting. To re-set the brakes to the right position you have to put the car in reverse and back up-put on the brakes. You shouldn't have much pedal pressure at first until they tighten when the brakes are on for a second and they adjust themselves right.
Unless you are replacing something or cleaning them, there is no reason to take off your drums.
