Hey all,
I just finished up my front brakes with ss lines (four lines) and bear decela rotors. My plan was to get the Baer rear disc upgrade kit. I am wondering, will I run into balance issues with the front brakes being stock size and the rear converted to discs? I think I asked this before but never in it's own thread. By balance issues I mean the ratio of front vs rear load.
Also I assume that the e-brake will no longer work unless the brake pedal is to the floor while engaging?
Thanks
I never had issues with my rear Baer kit and stock front brakes. My e-brake was fine (I'm not sure what I did differently than all the others, but mine DID work)

you shouldnt.....the rear gets the least of the brake bias as it is.....
If you're doing this, then I hope you're just doing it for appearance.
If you feel you need the performance of a big brake upgrade, then you should really do the front first.
If you've got ABS, that should take care of the proportioning for you.
And my ebrake works fine, but you do have to press the pedal before engaging it.
I should have explained in greater detail what I am after. I use the car as a daily driver (with some track time) in central Ontario Canada with 18' wheels for the summer. I have a set of 16' motegi MR7 wheels that I have winter tires for exclusive winter use. I was after a big brake kit that would fit into these 16' wheels but the baer 13' front (with rear combo from gravana) kit will not fit that small a wheel. I have been told that the rear kit should fit my 16's but it is not reccomended. The only other option for me would be the wilwood 4 piston upgrade for the front which will fit the 16's but they have no rear kit out yet. I noticed that RSM does the kits but their prices are a little out of reach.
I did not want to mix and match wilwood and baer kits and I wanted disc's all around the car. Basically one company for front and back is what I am after, I kind of jumped the gun and redid the front brakes as the pads and rotors were worn to nothing.
Sorry for the long post but any ideas on what my next move should be?
Thanks for all your help
get the 12 inch front kit.... it should fit most 16;s
you can download the template from their site and paste it to cardboard, take your wheel off and see if it clears...
if you cant find it on their site, call bill koppinger ext 15 at baers number on their website and ask for a template emailed or snail mailed.
I sent an email to baer for a template. Their website would not display them.
I'm still all over the map with this stuff, the decisions are endless!
Thanks again for the help everyone
I have the Baer 12" template at home I'll e-mail it to you. Baer is not great at returning e-mails.
I talked to Baer on the phone, the brakes are nearly the same size between 12" and 13" because they use the same caliper. The only difference is rotor size.
the wilwood front kit will not fit stock 16 inch rims I tried it not even close to working

The Silver J......Ridin' Clean....
Cherub- thanks alot that is much appreciated
Rodimus Prime- I wonder if the stock 16' wheels have less of an internal diameter than my MR7's, but by the looks of your post it seems doubtful for the wilwood kit
silvrdreamld904- Sounds good, must look great
