need suspension ideas!
Friday, July 29, 2005 9:00 PM
i got a 97 cavalier and i got koni yellows and ground control coilovers and love them (((((((((((((((((( for sale - $900 & used for 2 months )))))))))))))))))))))))

But i just got the drift kit and its REALLY LOW and i love to be tucking while driving and i can't be with that front bumper so my options are:
  1. Pro Street Coilovers ( RK SPORTS )
  2. Gravan Tuning 1 piece GP
  3. easy street AIR
  4. OR YOU OPTION.

Please help!

let me give alittle more info.
the reason i want another kit is b/c i dont want to be parked with it so abover the rim. i do mind drive high and then slamming it ( AIR ) but i dont wanna rub so i think that 1-piece kit would be a good deal too b/c they are so smooth.

HELP!

-thanks machzel-

Well it really depends what your going for, what kind of drop you want, if your racing or if you want to be all show.

If you want a show car...best thing you can do is get an Air Ride suspension. This way you'll gain show points and be at any height you want. The ride on them I hear isn't so good but I've never been in a car with it so I can't judge.

If you want a great suspension for daily driving & occasional racing...RK Sports Pro Street Coilovers. They were greatly designed for our cars and I've been in a vehicle with them...smooth as babies butt (you know what I mean). They are defenitley worth getting though.

I would seriously recommend you checking out the RK kit. It was designed for our vehicle for great handling and it does so. It's worth every penny. I didn't want to spend that much myself but sometimes I wish I did get them.

heres my deal....

i have prostreets..... they are great for what they are... no complaints besides one thing........ adjustability of struts.

now if i had your choice, pro streets have a tender spring, which handles the smaller bumps when weight transfer is off the side of the suspesion highest from body roll... basically it helps keep it all in contact....

and thats a cool thing...

but.....with jims being stiffer at gravana, you wont get as much body roll to begin with...i believe the spring is a bit stiffer from what i;ve read and heard from jim a while back....

and then accompany that with the adjustability of the strut....

if you can swing it, and they are out when you plan to purchase, i;d get gravana..... but prostreets are a nose in the buttcrack second.... yea.... close.......

reason being... with suspension, adjustability is the key to fine tuning....... the more things you can adjust, the better off most will be.... however it also gives you more ways to mess up....

but bottom line is, you will learn to tune your car to its needs for each event/situation.

the rksports were supposed to be adjustable, but then later scrapped the idea... gravanas are.

i'm always gonna side with more adjustability before non adjustable. prob mainly because i like to tinker and learn.
