Tower strut bar, not modification
Monday, June 06, 2005 8:09 PM
Is there a front tower strut bar that I can use without modifying to work with my car? 2005 Cavalier w/cruise control. If it isn't possible, I can accept that. But if there is one that doesn't require relocation parts or grinding things to make it work, I'd rather have that. Thanks.

i bought the GM OEM strut bar from the jbody verts..... one with a bracket for cruise and let me tell you

it didn't fit worth a shat, the cruise box doesn't fit on the bracket at all and i ended up just not using it

either way, all of them require some modifications of the brackets that hold on the cruise and puter. thus, any that say they'll work with a 95+ cavalier will work.... you just have to be a bit creative.

Guess I have to get creative. Next question is which brand was the "best" fitment? I'm probably just going to go with the GM one from a junkyard and have a friend powder coat it for me to spice up the look. The more opinions, the better!

I just installed a Vibrant bar, and the cruise module fit fine. I did move the PCM, but that was more for personal preference, I have seen them fit with un-noticeable modifications.

The DC ecotec bar is supposed to install without having to move anything.

This one doesnt have the CC module though. As I said, I moved my PCM for personal preference, but my CC module hooked up no problems.

now heres the big question

i have a 2002 2200 OHV. my ecu is against the strut tower/firewall just like the ecotec. also, my throttlebody is right by the firewall. so now i have to see whether i can use an intake along with the vibrant bar. fun times.

I have that bar as well. It was touching the hood slightly so I put some foam on top of it and now it is quiet.

The part number for this is CSB2002, correct? One site I went to says its for 2003 only, but I doubt that.

gravana tuning has them

and as you can see in the pictures i had the bar on a 97(with 98-02 motor) , 00 2.4 , and 02 2.4 , not in the pics are the 04 eco , which 2 locals here have the bar on thier cars

only hood it didnt clear was the ram air hood , because of the air outlet on the hood

Any chance you have a closer pic of the cruise control and pcm?

does the vibrant bar prevent you from getting a ram air hood like some of the others do?

Here is a close up image of my bar and how I have the PCM and Cruise mounted. Yes it is pretty level. About the ram-air hood I'm unsure if it would work, but the bar stays pretty even or below the moulding on the top part of the engine.

Sorry for my long time for pictures.
