Hey guys I was wondring if it makes a difference to which way the slot goes?? Example should the higher end of the slot aim towards the front or the back......and does it really make any difference
Thats how I did mine. I want to say that everyone I have seen with Baer rotors went the other direction. Pat (stopitbrakes) said thats how it was supposed to go, and other cars that I have seen with slotted rotors went the same direction as mine.
if you have any brand of rotors except baer, that way ^
if you have baer rotors, the other way.

damn.....the place I had them put on did it the other way......yet when I called RSM they said it didn't really matter since the slot is still there! Do you guys think I should swap it back that way????
i would, because the rotor also has internal cooling properties, etc.

The reason it is crucially important to get it right with the Baer rotors is because internally, they are directionally vaned so they won't cool properly if they're put on backwards.
Most others don't matter and it's probably as much personal preference as anything else. Have you checked to see if there's any manufacturer's recommendation?
I was hoping you would come on here Weasel.....I got them from RSM racing, the slotted rotors, and I called them today and they said it didn't really matter. Now I know that you are the suspension and brake guru so I will trust what you tell me. You think i should swap them or trust that RSM was right and it doesn't matter which way they go on?
If RSM says it doesn't matter, then it doesn't matter.
That backs up what I suspected above.
I've always had mine on with the veins going forward (into airflow), but I was recently told (by someone who's opinion I trust) the slots are there solely to allow gasses to escape from between the pad and rotor, and as such it's only effective if the slots face away from the front on the top to aid the escape of these gases. Now the Baer directional vanes makes sense to require a certain direction, but has anyone else heard this argument before?

It probably won't since you'll never overheat the rear brakes so cooling isn't an issue.
There is most definitely a right and wrong way to install the Baer rotors though. It's nothing to do with the slots. It's to do with the cooling vanes inside the rotor. Correctly installed, they're acting as an impeller drawing air through.
