Ok, I purchased a sturt bar of a buddy who owns a 2.4l Cav. I installed it on my 2.2l with a bit of tweaking it installs fine. Now when I shut the hood it hits the mounting bracket? Is there really that much of a difference from a 2.4 to a 2.2???

Here are some pics to show u what I mean. Please excuse the dirty engine bay I am working on it.

Now I managed to find this pic (not sure who's engine bay it is, but thanks) but he has the same bar I do, only I had to turn the bar a bit so it would not hit the hood or rub on the throttle.

So, I am assuming this bar is not going to work on my 2.2l, but I thought I would post some pics of my problem just in case there is a solution to this other then buying another bar.

you have to flip it upside down to get it to fit. thats how i did mine when i had one

Flip the bracket? I tried the bar everywhich way, but either way it hits the bracket? I doubt the bracket will work upside down.


Could someone post some pics of 2.2l strut bars?

looks like the brackets on the ends are wrong? the mounting points are too high for any cavalier.

I have the same bar. It fit on both the 02' 2200 and is now on the 04' eco Sunfires.
The bar needs to be angled down.

Its got three pics of under my hood, all of which you can see the strut bar. It looks the bracket on the one you got just come up higher.

try to use dremel to lower the two mounting holes and trim or bend the upper lip
