ok guys heres the deal: i already have the sportlines sitting in my basement waiting to go on, but money is kinda tight right now. so my question is: will these struts handle the drop or should i wait to get some koni's?
wait to get the Koni Yellow you wont be disapointed...
KYB GR-2 are not met for lowering that low.

At least if U can't afford the KONI Yellows and really want to go with KYB's go with KYB AGX's.
thanks for the replies, the reason i was asking is because i can get a set of kyb gr2 fairly cheap, i guess i'll end up waiting, im just a little impatient and wanna drop my car
the KYB AGX's are only warrented up to a 1.5 inch drop. the sportlines are lower than that. so save your money and get Koni yellows

Im a Xbox 360 fanboy...and damn proud of it!!
Do yourself a favor and save your $$$, i wish i would have. Dont go with GR2s, i did and i regret it now, and the ride is horrible, stiff, bouncy, you name it, real bad now that its 25,000 miles later. Im replacing mine with Tokico D-specs which are direct bolt ons, unlike the konis. Ethier way dont go with the GR2s, you couldnt pay me to drive on a lowered car with these now, lol

Yeah ide say wait, the GR'2 are designed as a stock replacement and are meant to be lowered at all, but cna get away with what KYB says is a mild drop up to 1.5".
I have the D-Specs for mine and 1.7 drop springs, but in all the paperwaork that came with the struts, it doesnt have anything about the warranty, and how far you can lower them and still have a warranty if something happens to them.
If anybody knows the answer please let me know.

ok hearing all this stuff makes me very worried, about a year ago i bought kybs,im lowered 2.3 on the back and 1.8 inches on the front, the ride is pretty bouncy and i need a new rear strut mount plate but other than that ive had no problems, the guy at the place i got this set up from said the kybs were a decent suspension upgrade and would handle the drop, im confused???
no problem with my kyb gr-2 and drop zone coils im droped 2 inches
GR-2's aren't bad, they are certainly not any of the adjustables. However, I have them as a cheap substitute to my AGX for Ground Cntrol coilovers dropped about 2.7 inches and I have seen no problems. It is a little more bouncy, but they were cheap to buy and they have held up nicely.
I'll have a sig someday....................
thanks guys i feel a bit better now, i know i need a new rear strut mount cuz when i go over a bump i hear a sqeak and some times a clank and when i turn my wheel left or right i hear a slight knock so im gonna get that checked out, i just didnt wanna buy new struts cuz that would of really sucked...plus im broke lol
Hey sorry to jack your post black03coupe: But this question is for red03ecotec. Where did you get your body kit from ? I saw that kit on WinksOnline but isn't that site closed? I want that kit SO bad so let me know where you got it...
Oh, since I'm here I have GR2's on a Pro Kit. I HATE em'!!!! Not only am I bouncing all over the road but I can hear the rear ones bottoming out in the unfortunate event that I hit a good size bump... I'm so frustrated I'm ready to scrap the whole set up...
there was a guy a couple weeks ago that had GR2's and some lowering springs. . found out that its a wrong idea even after all these posts of people telling everyone to buy Konis or AGX's. let the spring sit some more and SAVE MONEY. why is everyone so anxious to install something on their car when they dont have the things they need. would you buy a car that has a gas pedal but not a brake, that way you cant stop once you get going? i doubt it. if you arent willing to wait and save then dont mod the car at all.
gr2s are STOCK replacement. They are made for stock springs. Search up gr2s + drop, and see how many people have blown gr2s with a drop. It's ALOT of people.
i have sportlines and koni yellows, and i LOVE that setup....rides VERY well...wait and save..it really is worth it...
If you want to lower the car NOW... do it on stock struts.... you'll find you want to get Konis or something intended for those Sportlnes pretty quick
There is NO point to lowering on Sportlines (or Sprints, or other LOW springs... or coilovers...) on anything cheap. KYB AGX's are included in that.
Lowering on OEM replacements (Monroe, GR2's, etc).... is a waste of money. Don't do it. Better to just blow the free stockers that came with your car.
BTW... if you're bouncing... your struts are shot. Hope you didn't waste your money
I was in the same boat. I didn't want to wait. I thought that GR2's would be fine or AGX's. But then I realized that I have not done anything "half-a$$" on my car now, so why start. And ruin other suspension parts. I just got a great deal on some Koni Yellow's. I've been researching, and researching and waiting. The best way to go is Koni Yellows or Tokico D-Specs. I does suck to save up that much money for struts!! But I think it wil be worth it from the research that I have done. I'll let you know next spring.

Save your money for Koni's or Tokico!
I spent the money for the D-specs and have not regretted it one bit, and im dropped 1.7 that setteled into just about a 1.75 all around. Looks great and rides awesome, and i have them set to the middle of the adjustment range.

Anyone who puts bouncy and good suspension in a sentence does not know what it is to have a good set up. Just because someone else tolerates the ride does not mean you will. I will say it again most people don't realize how much the ride sucks till the get e proper set up and most don't even know they are riding on blown struts. Most people around here have gotten use to their rides and think it is just fine. If these people told me the ride was fine and i bought the set ups they had i would be pissed. i have ridden in such set up and with me and a bad back it sucks major.
Yeah i think everyone has pretty much covered it. Think of it this way
$250 (KYB GR2's) and $550 (Koni Yellows) Grand Total $800
Cost of just waiting $550. That $250 can be used for another modification. Priceless.

Despite what everyone says, I like my car on gr-2s and sportlines. With konis, its too rough of a ride for my liking. The gr2s are a lil more bouncy, and I know thats not a good thing but for me it is, i prefer to bounce a little bit then feel every crack in the road.
But everyone has their opinion. If you want a stiff ride with no bounce then Id go koni for sure, but if youre like me and like a softer ride, id say go kyb. just drop it on your stocks and see if you like it or not, and if you hate it then ull get konis

i am sorry but that is why this questions of KYB BR2's keep on coming up with responses like this.
I know i absolutley hated the ride of sportline or anything of that drop on stock or KYB. It was way to bouncy. The mere fact you have to slow down for little dips is just not cool.
