i was thinking of upgrading to drilled or slotted rotors. ive changed brake pads before i guess i have alittle knowledge of brakes. are rotors hard to replace?? do i have to get new calipers if i get new rotors??
If the rotors are the same size as the stock ones... its not any harder then replacing your brake pads.
You know when your have your caliper off to replace the pads? well theres nothing holding the rotor on anymore after that and it just comes right off.
Now if you want to do a big brake conversion (larger rotors with better calipers). your going to need some new parts.
they really arent that bad, just remove the calipers, 3/8" allen key if i remember. You dont need to replace calipers if you dont want to. However new ones are very cheap if your looking at painting them. New pads would be recommended with the new rotors, something good.
Steel braided brake lines while your down there.

Actually if they are the factory rotors than there could be 1 or 2 little push clips over the lugs to keep the rotors from falling off. OP - These do not have to be replaced, their only use was to keep the rotors from falling off the cars while there were on the assembly line. Your wheel will hold the new rotors in place.

what size are the stock rotors? do they make drilled or slotted rotors that are the same size as stock
why does this thread make you giggle?
Baer makes slotted and drilled rotors- some people have had problems with them cracking around the drilled holes but i've had mine for like 2 years and around 10k hard miles, with no issues. love mine. granted the drilling is more for show than anything on a daily car, but it does look cool, and serve somewhat of a purpose
Powerslot makes slotted rotors- i've heard nothing but good things about these
EBC makes slotted and drilled rotors- the drilling isn't full holes on these rotors, the surface is dimpled which would prevent cracking more. haven't heard anything about em either way.
Brembo makes both slotted, and cross drilled rotors seperately. does not offer them both combined.- Brembo is a good name, so i wouldn't hesitate giving them a shot, but i dont recall ever hearing anything either way.
i'm sure theres plenty more out there, these are just a few of the bigger names that i know of,
I've got slotted Brembo's, they've been great. I'm just about to put my second set of pads on them and the rotor is still in great shape.
Paying someone to install parts and bragging about it being fast, is like watching someone bang your wife and being proud to raise their kids.
ok sounds good. thanks everyone for you input
EBC USR rotors are what I'm running now. No problems at all. Very nice rotor.

ok now is there a website that has a selection of rotors to chose from? are there rotor and brake pad combos out there??

exactly where i got my setup. great place to deal with. i went with Hawk ferro-carbon pads. love em. pretty low dust, great grip, great wear characteristics. when it comes time i'll probably get another set of those.
do the brembo actually have that gold look or are they just like that in the picture?
They are zinc plated.

Don't get drilled they crack. Go slotted, I prefer powerslot.
Powerslot / Hawk Pad combo is the way to go. I have used a Baer, EBC, and Powerslot and I definatly prefer the Powerslot. They are a little more money but you get a lot more out of them.
