Ok, for those of you running Koni Reds w/ Ground Control Coilovers, I'm just looking for some feedback as to where everyone sets there dampening (I do a lot of daily driving right now, with a good amount of highway driving, so that's what I'd really like to hear about...)
I'm currently lowered 2", running factory 16" LSS wheels, just to give you an idea how much room I have for suspension travel.
I'm not sure where they are currently set, I put them in the way the previous owner had them set. Overall, I am happy with the ride, I just think I can get an even better ride out of this combo:
I'm 100% happy as far as cornering, and how the car feels going to turns, braking, etc.
What I would like to see change, is bumps (especially at highway speed). I feel an improvement over stock as far as the car not having as much "after bounce" after hitting a cement patch or uneven pavement...but the initial "bump" is much more jarring than stock, and that's what I would like to even out. I'm assuming I want to go a bit softer on the dampening to achieve this, just wondering what everyone has to say.
I've also read a lot about setting the fronts stiffer than the rears, rears stiffer than the front, setting them equally, and so on....help me out on this one...
Thanks in advance for any help!
I don't know if this applies, because mine are yellows, but in general this is what i've found. The softer the setting, the better it does at low speeds. The firmer the setting, the better it does at highway speeds. Unfortunately, without separate bump and rebound adjustment that's what we've got. It sounds like you need a bit more damping. If you want to test out my car (since the adjustments are easier to make), we can do that. Granted, your spring rate is higher, but that's all the more damping you need lol.
I would be curious how your car rides..might give me a better idea where to start...
My main concern is smoothing out the ride at highway speeds, I can live with a little jarring at low speeds. Since PennDot such as awesomely bad job of maintaining our highways around here, I'd like to compensate for that best as possible, lol.
I thought the reds only have 2 options,,,hard or soft. That's what I read on here anyways.
Pretty sure they have a full range of adjustment, they just aren't adjustable while on the car. You have to either fully compress of extend the rod (depending on old or new style) then you rotate the rod clockwise and counter clockwise through the "clicks"....
At least that's my understanding...
wonder if anyone has instructions. hey matt did you see my reply in the sway bar thread about the accident?

I think the difference between reds and yellows is how they adjust. For the generation of koni reds that i had on my previous set up, you pushed the shaft all the way down and turned until it clicked/locked. At that point, turning it left is soft and right is firm. There's about 1.5-2 full turns of adjustment. The only thing i would caution against is full soft especially on a higher spring rate set up - that's asking for bouncing at speed.
