What, the @!#$, is this @!#$. So I get my super street's the other day and right on the front of the enclosed materials is, "This product is for off road use only" in bold. And there is also other mentions of how its unlawful to install them on vehicles for use on public roads. We'll there was no mention of this on neither tein's site nor the sites that are selling these. And of course my mechanic won't instal them for this reason. I figured I'd post this up so no one else would get suckered in like me. Looks like I'll be looking into the STD coilovers.

ummm install them yourself. problem solved.
plenty of people are running tein ss coilovers on daily drivers with 0 problems.
so what are you going to do with those super streets now?
I don't think your going to get your car impounded or any sort of traffic violation for your suspension. Of course its intended for "off road" use only its a race suspension, If they don't cover their asses they would get sued by every street racer that gets their car's impounded for "illegal modifications."
LOL @ the Newb!!!! OMG They are not Street Legal!!!! AHhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
lol be nice everyone starts somewhere
here in cali as long as your car is 22" high from the bottom of the headlights your ok. now ill buy those off of you lol
EVERY spring/coilover setup is technically not street legal. It is unlawful to modify your vehicle any way. Atleast in Maryland.
3/4 of the stuff on my 98 Z24 is not legal.
& probably half the stuff on my DD also.
Does it bother me? HELL NO.

Well it bothers me because there was no mention of it before I bought it. No other suspension mod I've had on any car before this has not been street legal, or hasn't said that it wasn't.

you have OCD if that bothers you .. lol
If you are worried about keeping the car legal you need another hobby.
They also seem to make quite a big deal about them not being safe for use on the street. That's something I can't understand, I do realize they're designed for a race application so the impulseloading from road hazzards such as pot holes are most likely not taken into account during the design and testing phases of them. Of course koni realized this and that's why their race coilovers for other applications are not recomended for street use, and street use actually voids the warranty. My mechanic seems to think that they are not complient enough for street use and worries about them cracking the strut towers. I don't see that issue.
And its not like I'm afriad of being pulled over by the rice police, hell in new hampshire I think the only illegal mod that's not vagrently unsafe/retarded is cat removal. Its not like we have minimum head light laws or noise laws for that matter.

i know in canada, to pass inspection u gotta be bone stock.... i went through hell with my 98 z cuz of that lol
what part of canada? im in NS and most inspection places couldnt give a @!#$ if your car is stock or not, as long as nothing is broken, leaking ect.
Its called teins easy legal way out of being sued.
R.I.P. Brian Klocke, you will never be forgotten
The majority of aftermarket companies say that their parts are not street legal to cover their ass.
The teins are perfectly fine for street use dude. I have been on teins on michigans crappy roads for 4 years and 140,000 miles with zero problems.

Theyre not street legal because Tein didnt want to spend the money to get the DOT approved.
Give them to me if youre concerned. Ill sacrifice myself.
lmfao at people who modify their cars and have other people do the work for them!!!!!
lol phil... dont you do that for people?
Phil Lindsay wrote:lmfao at people who modify their cars and have other people do the work for them!!!!!
I would do it myself, I have the skill. I also have enough skill to know not to go into this with one leaky jack, cinder blocks for jack stands, and only a dollar store socket set. Heck even if I was at school with real jackstands and a decent tool set I'd still prefer to do this one on the lift. Suspension is 1 of two things I don't @!#$ around with, the 2nd is brakes, they're the two most importaint safety features on the car.
