I have a 05 cavalier will right at 100k milles my car has tein s tech springs rides 1.5" lower after riding with my new springs for a month or so i heard the sqeaking sound so i just recently put new brakes and new hub assembles on the front. this was because of a squeaking sound coming from the front end, had it checked both hubs were replaces. everything was great for about a month and now when i am at lower speeds and turn to the left i hear a terrible noise that sounds like metal on metal. i do not know what this is and i really need some help figuring out what this could be. i have searched many other posts and have not found anything to be of help. please help
Hum, I have the same problem I think the drivers side outer tie rod is hitting the inside of my rim when ever i turn to the left. I have replaced Hub and tie rod end, I think my rack and pinion is bad though. Have you noticed any wear to any of the metal parts on your front end?
what kind of brakes are you using? did you put that grease behind the brake pads?
sounds like wheel bearing to me, maybe you got a bad one. and i can honestly say i have never once greased the back of my brake pads... ever.
id look into the wheel bearings again.
me too but i had to this time,. i was told if i dont they would squeal like crazy.. at 14 dollars for the set. im not taking that chance without them lol.
Do either of the front wheels have more brake dust than usual? Might have a sticky caliper, also what type of pad did you put on the car?
im using wagner thermal quiet ceramic. and the caliper is not sticking. i though it might me the rack and pinion set up but it does not seem so . i actually think that the right side berring may have been a bad one. they are timken hubs and they are warrented. It is now making a the same sqeak that it did when i back up from the right side so i think it may be that bearing
