Koni sport (yellows)
Unless they come with springs wich I dont think they do...
If I want to lower the car with these, what springs should you get with them?
you can do any drop amount you want with those bad boys.
depends how low you wanna go. ...imma eibach fanboi, so i will recamend those
best choices are:
eibach sportlines will give you something like a 1.9 drop in the front, and a 2.3 or so in the back
[which levels out the car. making it look straight and level all the way around, instead of higher up, and goofy looking in the front.]
also this setup has about the best ride quality for the amount of drop tou get. and better handling than any other spring, caz yur lower.
other ok option [i got these on my car] the eibach pro-kit. gives the car an even 1.7 drop all the way around.
slightly less handling capability, and a little more sloppy than the sportlines. but a little smoother ride, because your
not as low to the ground.
so all in all, it depends what your gonna do with the car, how low you want it to look like,
if you have snow in the winter, and if you drive in the snow [wif you have it durring winter]
^^^^ ummmm, pro-kits better for handling my friend, you want your control arms horizontal with the road for best handling, which is what you get with pro-kit. And iirc last time i checked pro-kit was 1.25 all around.
either way, sport-line/pro-kit is a good way to go.....if it where me, i'd go with ground control coil-over sleeves on the yellows, that what i had and it was awesome.

I've had yellows with Tein S-tech's, Road magnets, and now I'm on Ground controls with their " street" spring rate. If I were to do it all again, I'd say Tein S-tech's if your looking for some thing to give you a nice stance and still be somewhat comfortable for dd and some auto'x. If your not looking for a smooth dropped ride and can handle a little bumpy ness I'd go Ground controls before Roadmagnets simply because come winter you can lift the car with the coil overs.
But it all depends on what your looking for...I'd stay with my ground control's personally though. Did you check to see if anybody local to you has a similar setup that could take you for a spin in their car to give you a rough idea on what you might like? Oh and remeber your going to need your stock struts still so you can pirate some parts off them and gut the front struts for the inserts.
I run s.techs and koni yellow's. Current set up is in my reg, but to sum it up, the car rides better than stock over bumps and is surprisingly fun and stable in corners even with the dampers on full soft setting. Turn them up and the cornering gets better as long as you have flat surfaces.
I would assume the pro-kit will be similar, and the tein h.techs will lean more towards the "comfortable" side.
sportlines and b&g are quite firm so be prepared to turn up the damping to avoid "bounciness". You will have a harsh ride on some surfaces.
Thanks..
To be honest.... All I really care about is handling... and thats about it.... but I do want the car lower... but thats gunna happen as a side effect from shorter higher spring rate springs anyway....
Basically... I'm only thinking about handling... but necessarily dont want to spend a fortune..
I'm pretty much planing on setting it up as a casual auto ex car, put prob wont actually race it. Im just weird about handling for some reason and am willing to sacrifice comfort since is not a DD or winter driven car anyway.
You probably don't want to go with the skunk2 springs like I did then. They give a nice even drop around 1.8 to 2.0 overall, but they still feel like they should handle a lot stiffer...it might just be that I'm still running factory struts (until I put my koni yellows in this weekend)
Hope is not a plan. Change is not a destination.
I've had Eibach Sportlines on Koni Yellows since 2006, and its been very good. A little hard on bumps, but the drop is very nice. The car feels solid, although it might also be because of the solid strut mounts on the rear, the 225/45/17 Nexen N3000 (cheap $300 set) and all the rubber bushings/mounts have been replaced to polyurethane (Engine, Trans and Lower Arms). I have yet to replace the rear swing arm bushings to poly. I also have the Eibach Sway bar set with poly bushings and Freedom Design Strut Bars (F&R). Eventually I would like to try out a set of TEIN Super sports.
I participated in two autocross events this year with the NC SCCA. On my first event, I was 3.313 seconds (best of 6 runs) behind my ST class leader who was in a 95 Acura Integra with Falken Azenis tires. I was pretty happy with how I did considering that the car is stock with 119973 miles on the clutch and has only suspension work. Plus my tires are not very good. The car was set with F42/R45 psi for tire pressure and the front struts a full turn from full firm, the rear one and a half turns from full firm. My second event I was 4.637 seconds (best of 6 runs) behind my class leader who was in a 2000 Subaru Impreza 2.5RS also with Falken Azenis tires.
First Event best run:
Second Event best run: Start at 2:12
These times were before I replaced my bushings, wheel bearings, both CV half shafts, Ball joints, Tie rods and had the car realigned as of today. There is another SCCA Autocross event on the 22nd. Hopefully that with what I have done I would be able to shave off some time and place closer to the leader.
With whatever you choose, just know that the ride will not be the same as stock. Its all give and take. Give a little drop here, take a little comfort there. Good luck and have fun.

Personally the Sportlines handle so nice (fun) that I could care less about how rough they are, and the roads around here are horrid. Plus adjustable struts let you tune them down enough to get a break from the harshness if you want.

nice freaking run on that second one. loling at that bmw
Ya I got a kick out of the BMW too...
Assuming everything doesnt go to crap at work... Im saving for a new bike... but after that Im planning on just finally doing all the suspension on the car, replacing the motor and trans mounts, tuning it, and calling it done... well I need to tear apart my transmission but im not counting that.
I've ridden in cars with some nice ass suspension setups before.... and the whole time the owners talking about how it rides like crap (on the street).... all I could think about is how I'de kill to have my car handle like that... and the ride didnt bother me at all even though I was flying around on every litle pot hole. So im not really worried.... I'de enjoy driving an actual race car to work I'm just weird that way.... besides... I have my boat of a buick for daily commuting.
i do like my ride on the pro-kit springs! but, its not low enough for me! that will change sometime when i feel like it.

Thanks. This sunday should result in better runs. Unless the weather decides otherwise.

Thats not bad... I'll make sure to look them up when it comes time..
i got some good used pro kits still lol
I have 2 J one with Pro Kit and one with Sportlines. The car with prokit has rear swaybar. Car with Sportlines does not. The car with Sportlines handles WAY better than the other. Too much body roll with the Porkit, and not low enough.
