What kind of tool can I use to press the a-arm bushings in with?

I used a heavy duty bench vise with a thick (1") flat piece of round metal bigger than the bushing (the bushing will expand under pressure) and a steel retainer that cupped around the arm bushing boss. Use grease on both the bushing and arm bore. I had assistance when I did mine, made it an easy evolution. Took about 5 minutes. Good luck to you. Also, make sure that the old rubber bushing metal ring has been removed for the large vertical bushing. I didn't remove mine the first time and I almost damaged the new poly bushing.

i vise will work or is you have a press i have a 12 tonne press but not everyone has one of those

Big bushing is easy to get out and harder to get in
small bushing is harder to get out and easy to get in its weirdbut thats the way she goes some times

make sure you use the lube that comes with them or you "could " get squeaks from the bushing

the smaller ones are so easy to put in a baby could do it. you do not need a vise nor a press to do these.

the only one that really requires pressure for install is the larger one, and that is only because you have to physically fold in the outside edge of it into the bore. and you can damage this lip if you do not take you're time and use ample amount of lubricant.

Pictures speak a thousand words.

Here's what happens when you don't have enough lube on the bushings and very sharp edges on the control arm.
When I redo these, I'll have to radius the edges just a bit.

Good luck with your project.

^^^ wow james, we did that EXACT same thing on a set of paul's last night. first time i ever attempted installing them. we actually took them OUT of my aluminum arms and put them in his.

one side went in perfect, while the other did the same thing yours did

Yeah, I had to use the wrench to keep the bushing in line as much as possible to get it in.
With a little finesse, it went in with no problem.
And you know me, I use whatever means it takes to do things.

Use a LOT of lube, and brake any Sharpe edges, and you should be fine.
