I am in need of new struts come spring, and have been looking at my options while the car is in storage. I know I'd like to go with the Dspecs, but unsure of what mounts in. I thought of putting in the OEM ones, but I've seen a lot of problems from those; so that has scared me off a bit.
So, what mounts should I go with?
I also plan to do poly mounts in the control arms, not sure if this will matter if anything.
Also thinking a rotational bearing may be bad, the car would squeak when i crank the wheel hard at a stop.
Any Insight is appreciated.
I believe your only options currently are either stock or OEM mounts.
I personally have OEM solid mounts on my D-Specs (off the car for winter currently). I didnt notice a difference in handeling at all, but i have no problems with the mounts. I had an issue where they didnt send me all the parts for them initially, but I got them very soon after I told them what was missing.
The only reason I would give OEM a shot is because on my car the stock mounts (brand new when i lowered the car) went bad in like 10k miles. The OEM mounts will either never wear out, or take a LOT longer to do so. I ran OEM's for like 25k miles and other than some dirt they look like brand new.

Do the OEM mounts come with the rotational bearings for the front, by any chance?
Just trying to get my prices around to see what I am going to have to save. And by the looks, aplusperformance is down right now....
well on my Dspecs and sportlines.....im running stock mounts with no problems and have been running the whole suspension setup for over a year and half
i would stick with stock mounts.....just grease them up alot when installing

Lucky you, maybe I got a bad set. I went to Napa for them, and they werent cheap. oh well.

You know, Im not familiar with all the parts of strut mounts. Though I did have to use some parts off the stock mounts.
Given the nature of the stock mounts I still vote go with solids. I cant speak for OEM's quality, I have a set of mounts that has taken a pounding and still look great, but I got a set from before I heard about the problems they were having. I had to replace the stock mounts 2 times (once when lowering, because the stockers were shot; and after about 10k miles of being lowered) and if the OEM mounts prove to be more durable, its worth it to me. Then again, I drive a LOT (100+ miles a few times a week); so the wear on all my stuff is probably quicker than people who don't drive as much as me.
I will also add that I am not easy on the car all the time. I do beat on it, and that is another reason that I got OEM mounts, they should be able to stand up to the abuse more, as stock mounts were never intended to.

If I had the money I surely would do a Tein setup. I've got a lot of work to put into it, and need to keep a low budget
stick with the stock replacements if your budget wont allow anything else. itll give a softer ride, and still perform decently. i've had factory mounts on sportlines for almost 3 years now. only had the D-specs for the past 2 years with a total of about 30k. factory mounts held up fine for me. i wish i woulda replaced them while i had the whole thing apart, if for nothing but peace of mind, but i've had no issues as of yet. (knock on wood) no knocking in the rear, not a peep from the rotational bearings, and they feel fine. i would still like to replace them, but i dont see myself doing it unless i do some more suspension work.
first off it needs to be pointed out that nobody has had issues with the REAR oem mounts and they are the ones that are freaking junk for our cars to begin with. as far as i know the only issues have been with the front mounts. mark has redesigned the mount as well as made sure the material is the correct strength stuff to work out. so it should all be worked out now.
or you could pick up some STD coilovers. pretty spendy as well as the teins but are just as nice. only difference is they do not come with rear mounts. you either have to retain you're stock junk ones or have oem make you up a set.

Oem mounts don't come with new rotational bearings but you can buy them from there site. I priced it out awhile back and no matter what it would have cost me the same to get the stockers or oems. I have the stockers on my d-specs and sportlines. And I've had no problems and that's with me changing 2 my wrainy season set-up and swapping mounts.
