I live in Ontario, Canada. Winters can be bad some years.
Think I'll be okay driving with my dspecs, pro-kit, and 15" winter tires? Or should I switch my springs back to stock/buy new springs before winter? I will be dirving a LOT during the winter and i'm not sure what to expect with the pro-kit. Oh and my dual magnaflows hang pretty low...
Thanks.
I had my gravana coilovers on all winter and they were set lower than the prokit goes. I also had almost bald snows with 15" rims and never got stuck. I am gonna change to stock this year however and get 4 new snows (instead of just 2).
Where in Ontario are you. I'm in Grimsby.
Wow. you guys would actually switch your suspension just for the winter? I never thought it was a problem unless you sat really really low. Maybe someone should make a "winter acceptable" list of do's and dont's. I am wondering how my header wiill react with the winter temps.... hopefully it's just going to be a noise issue.
pro-kit drop in the winter here in WI was just fine. was riding stock 16s 2.

I was lowered 1.75 inch on my stock steelies in michigan and i ended up @!#$ up alot of stuff under my car (my exhaust, a brake line, fuel line, and i cracked my fiberglass front bumper). after i did enough damage i got a winter beater for $200 that i will drive this winter too. the beater is always worth it!
never had an issue with my old cavy lowered in the winter, but i didnt have a body kit either..
I live in wisconsin and had my car lowered 1.75" with undersized tires and I made it around just fine. If the snow is too deep just dont go thru it. I live on backroads that are rarely plowed and in a long crappy driveway that goes uphill when you leave it, and I do just fine on half tread tires.
Okay cool, so far so good on most people.
Except Ryan. Ouch dude that's a lot of hassle you had there. I was considering a winter beater too. But I need something that is 100% reliable. I work out of town and drive a LOT. Hence why i'm a bit over worried about winter time
i know of a cheap older cavy...like a 93 with a blown head gasket i have been lookin at for a beater

What part of ON? I was an hour east of T.O. and drove to Ottawa once in a while with a 2" drop. Only got stuck once. Best part, I was on Motomaster SE tires. All seasons that would NOT get stuck at all in the winter, but couldn't get ANY traction in the summer, hahahah.
i live right on the bay... in bay city, mi. So we get tons of lake effect snow. And then it blows off the rivers and lakes and farm fields and we get 5 foot drifts on every road that are unavoidable in alot of circumstances, than when we get to much snow they close the roads and dont plow them at all. So i would probably be a special case. I can say when it wasnt being torn up it chugged right along
im from winterpeg(lol) and drove my cavy on sportlines for 2 winters with zero problems, never got stuck once with toyo proxes tpt's on my stock 16's...

i live in southern Maine. winters are pretty harsh here. am also wondering how I will do this winter since i just lowered the car on d-specs & road magnets. on a positive note, the cavi looks niiiiiiice lowered
I had Sportlines on 14's in the Snowbelt,Ohio..I was lowwwwwwwwwwwwwww, and I never got stuck..
It's all about the tire, not how low/high you are
I live in Toronto. I drove around with sportlines and 14s for 3-4 winters, will do it again this year...
Nice, your guys comments make me a little less nervous.
I'm in Indiana, never switched back with my prokit, no problems in the winter.
