Been to the track many times now with my engine swap, the problem is it has insane wheel hop when I do a burn out at the track. I have eibach springs all around, kyb struts, urethane control arm bushings, BFG drag radials... Any suggestions? Its wheel hop like you have never seen or felt before. The whole front end feels like its going to fall apart. Help.

Aluminum control arms? Not too sure if that would help a whole lot since it's unsprung weight......Might be better to have more unsprung weight on the front? I'm a drag noob lol
what kyb's do you have? The adjustable ones? I have to adjust my Gravana coilovers usually my first time of two down the track to find the spot what has no wheel hop. If your's are adjustable, try that.
GR2's aren't adjustable, Unless he has something different now
what size wheel/tire combo you runnin for the BFG's?
I just have the GR2 struts. Basically stock replacement. I found out tonight that one of my urethane tranny mount inserts is busted... Not sure how long its been that way... Would a better sway bar help?

My car has wicked wheel hop doing a first gear burnout. Found out 2nd gear 6600rpm is where its at. No wheel hop and lots of heat = good launches. It makes the BFG's so sticky that I sometimes get a little hop off the line.
Your GR2's are most likely blown now too. They were never meant to handle any drop, whether you're on pro-kit, sportline, or coilovers.
Get new struts (that are stiffer, handle the drop, and have some adjustability) and go from there.

instal a front control arm crossmember and itl kill your wheel hop dark star makes one for the civic but u can build and install it for under 100 bucks
if it start the next day it can be driven harder

Sounds like some Turbo Tech Racing Mounts are needed, which will be your best bet at removing this wheel hop.

a front crossmember instal will do more for wheel hop than solid mounts will your stabilizing the engine but what dampens the torque rate applied to the control arms when your launching
and i hate to say this but ttr's upper mount can be made useing a spare tranny shell mount and a new bushing and a welder for less than $150
im waiting for coments on this one

I get some nasty wheel hop too. I do my best to avoid wheelspin, but sometimes you get it anyways. Seems the 3400 doesn't like wet ground for sure. I think a big problem for me is the Grand Am upper mount, I think you were running the same one? I already went through one of them. The engine still feels like it moves around on me. I wish I had someone else near me to take some measurements off of. I'd like to try using a TTR upper mount for something and see if it'll work, or could be easily modified to work (from just a glance at pictures, that looks like a good possibility too)
You might try some sort of subframe brace or the K-brace. I used to have a subframe brace back in the day on my 2.2. Seemed to help out some, definately probably isn't going to hurt a whole lot, unless the engine is moving around banging the oil pan into it.
And I'm starting to question the bushings for my tranny mounts. I think i'm gonna pull the front one one of these days and have a look.

You could make your own polyurethane mounts.
Just cover up both sides of the mount, where the poly needs to go in, use a cardboard circle, and then fill it with the polyurethane, let it harden, then smooth out the sides.
If the metal dogbones are two pieces, you could weld the seams.
I see 3x00's all day at work, it doesnt seem like it would be too hard.
misnblu has a how to on his website, he made some for his DD
Look at a 3400 grand am's upper mount and tell me if you think it's still a posibility to "fill it in"

This is why you guys should be using the 94, 95 Grand am/Skylark mount like I do. You use the J body frame mount which you can get the Urethane insert for.
I would DEFINATELY be getting a subframe brace, urethane control arm bushings and a set of adjustable struts. If you dont have urethane tranny mounts and lower engine mount, get on it ASAP.
Good luck dude.

You can take the stock rubber out, and fill it that way.

I'd like to have that upper... but I saw my stock one sitting in the trunk after so long and thought "well, I don't need this any more" and apparently have thrown it away. (either that or it's misplaced in a real inconvenient spot). And guess what, now I need that.

Anyone got any pics of this subframe brace??? I pulled out one of the tranny mounts today and it was shot... It was the urethane one too... Ill post pics on here when I get a minute... I race my car alot and I need to get this to quit...

I get crazy hop too and im looking for a solution. Heres my setup:
1994 beretta
3500 v6 5-speed (just like your 3400)
My tranny mounts are the same as the cav's and so is the upper motor mount(very similar)
All my mounts are poly and poly filled, my motor DOES NOT MOVE
I also have all poly suspension bushings.
I also have POS kyb front shocks on drop springs(springtech)
While my car is a little different, there more or less the same.
I get bad hop, especially at the track.
I think the shocks are our issue here. Its the only other part of my front end that isnt upgraded yet. I want to try some Koni's and adjust them up pretty high.
I also used BFG's and got terrible hop, but I usually race with street tires and it hops just the same.
If that dosent cut it, then ill try to make some traction bars like the honda guys do like this:

I has that, i dont have any wheel hop....mind you my tires are pretty bad lol.....
i have some serious wheel hop as well it broke my mirror off my windshield and i broke my headliner with my helmet
Nate, I think you're running the GA upper like mine. From what the GA guys have been saying you might wanna swap to the WOT-Tech mount from 60degreev6.com. They seem pretty happy with it. I'm gonna get one when I get the cash for it.

i just got a set of 99 ga control arms im gonna try that as a fix
